Mouse found in Room!!

My friend just checked into all star movies tonight and they found a dead mouse in the bathroom!! She notified the front desk and they just sent someone up to remove it. No apologies or offer to move rooms. I suggested that she request to be moved. Anyone ever had anything like this happen.

My gosh....at first I thought it was one of those :funny" threads....like we found a (plush Mickey or something) lol

Never had a dead rodent in my room...and that is perhaps how she should phrase it to management.....
"I understand you cant control the untimely demise of this rodent, however, it occurred in my room and I do feel a bit uncomfortable and would very much appreciate your assistance in placing us in another room"

Hopefully she will take your suggestion, all kidding aside She needs to speak to a manager of the resort...the front desk (if she called from room) is a call center....

We stayed at the All Star Music Jan 19-26. I think it was the 2nd night we were there that my boyfriend saw (and killed) two cockroaches in the bathroom. I saw a 3rd one that next morning.

I did call the front desk that morning and told them. They simply apologized and told me they would contact maintenance and have them come up with some bug spray. We left for the park right after, but when we got back, my boyfriend said he could smell that they had come in with bug spray.

We did find two dead ones after that. At least they were dead.

I would have asked to change rooms, but we already had all of our things unpacked, so I just wore my sandles after that.

Oh, yuck! And I thought the chewed gum on our thermostat and smeared booger on the back of our door (at CSR) was bad. I know Disney can't absolutely control rodents and bugs...but they should be more apologetic or offer a complimentary service when it happens. When we checked in at CSR last month, the "new" flat screen TV and alarm clock weren't working. I notified the front desk at 3PM when we checked in. They sent a maintenence person at 10PM. They tried to fix the tv...and then ended up replacing it - at 11PM. I don't know if the service really varies from resort to resort, but our stays at GF and SSR were much more hospitable. Speaking with the front desk didn't help. I have written the resort manager, but I don't expect they can do much at this point. I am sorry your friend had to begin her vacation on such a sour note.

We found one on the floor inour room at POR last April. Of course it was made out of cloth and the housekeeper has put a cup down and the mouse was peeking out! If you squint at my avatar you can see it just to the right of the elephant's head.

Anyway, It happens. I live in the woods on a lake, and have had to rid the place of a few mice.

Could have snuck in while the door was open. As long as they got rid of it and you don't find anymore, I wouldn't let it ruin my vaca.

Well no one is asking the real quest why did it just die like that? Ok there's a mouse and I would want a room change incase there are more but why did it just die on the floor in the bathroom thats the weird part

At least it wasn't snakes. Someone found a mother & babies on the top of the drapes in their CR wing room, 2nd fl. They posted pictures, too.

OMG! If there was a snake in my room I would have had a heart-attack!

After I recovered I would have asked to moved to a new resort!

We trapped 2 mice in my mom's house, and you can eat off her floor. Mice can get in anywhere and there aren't many places they can hide in a hotel room. Not a big deal. People prop their doors open all the time and act surprised when something sneaks in.

We had what looked like dried vomit all over the curtins in our CSR room this past Dec. We walked in the room, saw it, and walked out. Went straight to the front desk and got a new room.

Why did the mouse expire? (most likely a field mouse not likely a 'rat' -- at least in the NYC definition)

Mouse eats poison elsewhere on the grounds (in bushes etc) There are frequently signs that say to stay out of the bushes etc... they have spray or placed chemicals to eliminate pests. For mice, these are usually contained inside small little boxes and well out of the way of kids etc. Usually attached to a higher level of the bush or branch of a tree way up there.

Mouse runs in the door while housekeeping is doin their thang... looks for food, finds none and dies.. as the poison takes effect.

Inviting? No. What you expect of a Disney resort? No.

Does it happen at Disney and even fancier resorts with room doors that lead to the immediate outdoors? Yes

Hey, the mouse was dead (and I'd like to know why it suddenly died in the bathroom too).

We too live in the country and sometimes mice come in under our refrigerator. But my cat Max takes care of them after they've been in about 3 seconds. He sleeps in front of the fridge at night just in case....

I forgot one other point -it may not have been a pesticide at all - remember there are rooms there aren't used sometimes for 3, 4, 5 or even 6 weeks at a time when a resort is not busy.

So its quite possible the mouse entered the room during the busy Christmas rush and nobody has been in the room since.

I travel a lot for work ! The last thing I do at home before I leave is take out the trash and put a new liner on when I return. I found 2 dead mice in my can when I got home. My son guessed they were looking for food then couldn't get back out so starved to death. I saw they had been in a drawer where I keep packets of popcorn,hot chocolate etc. so I put poison in a place my pet and DGD couldn't get to. The next day I came home and there was a dying mouse in my kitchen floor . I just scooped it up with my firplace shovel and threw it away. Then I scoured everything pretty much in the kitchen with anti bacterial spray and scalding hot water!!! Mice come in looking for food! It happens no matter how clean things are! But they should have offered a clean room atleast and made sure to scour the other before offering it back up to rent!!

Perhaps the little critter didn't wipe down all the faucets, doors, phone, and drawers. Perhaps drank from one of the glasses in the room. Might even be the bedbugs that got him.

ITA! Finding a mouse in my hotel room would not freak me out because I have found several of them in my own home over the years. Critters get in, and then sometimes they die. Sweep 'em up. Clean up the floor. Move on.
