Mouse found in Room!!

Its not really the mouse that bothers me as much as the story about the COCKROACHES??!! A stray mouse wandering in, etc...maybe just a fluke...but if you see 2 or 3 roaches, doesn't that usually mean that there are like, hundreds more in the walls somewhere?? EEK!:scared1:

Bugs in FL are different than bugs elsewhere.

It depends on the kind of roach. If they're the giant roaches (Palmettos) they wander in when the doors are open. We had those in the Houston area. The little ones could indicate a problem and I'd prefer them to be dead than running around live!

One was a big one, and the others were the small little ones. We saw the live ones in the bathroom, but the dead ones were by the sink outside the bathroom. I guess they were trying to make an escape.
I know the great outdoors is right outside the door, but it's still something that you don't expect on vacation. At least they came in with the bug spray though and they were dead after that. :thumbsup2

Everyone was so nice and helpful at the Music that I have a feeling if we would have asked to switch rooms, they would have taken care of us.

eek! what room in AS Music??? We are headed there is March!! What section were you in??

I forget the room number, but it was in the Jazz Inn. (Building 2 I think) We were on the 3rd floor in the very back corner. Although, I don't think the section would make a difference.

I would have asked for another room. I grew up in the country. I've seen all sorts of critters. It would still creep me out to have a dead mouse recently in my room. I'm happier not knowing.

Yikes....threads like this make me want to go get my own trailer and camp out at Fort Wilderness. My husband has been pushing for it but I just love the Pop and the food court, store....etc. Not to mention the free dining promo....you can't get that at the camp ground I don't think :( Still, the thought of taking home roaches in our luggage or dealing with dead rodents.....yikes.

Ok, the mice and the roaches would seriously creep me out.. but the SNAKES would be cause for MAJOR heart attack! OMG! Not cool.

I understand that things happen, and it is Florida, and those sorts of creatures are just going to naturally find a way in every once in a while. But holy crap. I would seriously be horrified if there was a snake in my room. Would NOT be able to handle that. Especially since some snakes that are native to FL are deadly.

No thanks! Yikes.

I'm staying at CSR for a week, in about three weeks. Is there anything that will maybe reduce the risk of finding a snake? Maybe being on the second or third floor, or something?

Hey, the mouse was dead (and I'd like to know why it suddenly died in the bathroom too).

We too live in the country and sometimes mice come in under our refrigerator. But my cat Max takes care of them after they've been in about 3 seconds. He sleeps in front of the fridge at night just in case....

Hey, we live in Apex to!! Small world, we are also going in June. Staying at the AKL. Who knows how the mouse got in, but with no food, and being trapped in the room...... that's what happens. I would have gone to front desk and gotten a new room.

I definitely would have requested a new room. It's obvious the room wasn't recently serviced, or mousekeeping would have seen it on the floor. So that rodent ran all over the beds, counter tops, etc. which can make humans very very sick. From the sound of the post, the room was not disinfected when they came in to scoop it up. That's plain DISGUSTING!

If anything of this nature is wrong with your room and you are not getting the satisfaction you require, bring all your belongings down to the lobby and camp out. Make yourselves at home, order a pizza, put your feet up on the coffee table, change the TV channel, brush your teeth, gargle, prop a mirror up and shave, whatever. the management will gladly move you to another room a.s.a.p.

Ahhh! We are about to check in about an hour from now!! We are driving! What building?

Dont worry, have a great time!!! I still cant figure out how there is a mouse in MK...then DHS...and EPCOT..not to mention DAK park too!!:rotfl2::goodvibes Thought there was only ONE:)

My friend did finally speak with the night manager and they moved her to POR. It was quite an ordeal because the move finally happened at 11:30pm!

Think she could send me that mouse? I'm thrilled to be staying at CSR for the 1st time, but an upgrade to the YC would be nice too.:lmao:

Hmm giving me ideas:idea: lol. I wonder what the upgrade would be from a 1br Villa at the BW:lmao: There are pet stores in Florida:thumbsup2

Ok I think I can handle a dead mouse or even some small bugs and possibly even a frog (just read that one somewhere around here) However are the snakes a common thing? I will have a heart attack and I think that might ruin the vacation for my family. I think now I will send hubby in to do a snake check first. I totally understand how this happens but can not deal with snakes! So someone calm my fears, does that happen often? We are going in June where the rooms are likely to not be vacant long at all. Please people talk me off of the ceeling here. :scared1:

OP glad your friend got put in a better room!

My friend just checked into all star movies tonight and they found a dead mouse in the bathroom!! She notified the front desk and they just sent someone up to remove it. No apologies or offer to move rooms. I suggested that she request to be moved. Anyone ever had anything like this happen.

:scared1: That is why I try to avoid the value resorts. I had a friend stay at the allstars a few years back and she said that the room was dirty and over the course of the stay a lot of bugs were discovered:eek:

But a dead mouse, that is just gross. I would want to change HOTELS in a heartbeat, if I found a rodent in my room I would be afraid of the rest of the hotel.

Issues with rooms can always occur no matter what level of the resort, even at GF.
So, the real issue is how we and hotel managment handle those issues. I believe we always have the right to ask for a new room...even if we don't like the view. It's all in how we approach the front desk...kindness always helps. Keep in mind, they do, if not management wants to make their guests happy.
