Motorized scooters

We are heading to the world again Oct 2006 (first trip 'home') and the IL's are coming with us ( Dh invited them!!lol) anyway... mil called me last week and asked about her being able to rent a motorized scooter for the 2 weeks we are there (heaven forbid she just use a wheelchair on the days she is having trouble with her arthritis)

Anyone know where I can look into this? Need to let her know of the cost!

My other Q is if we rent it here will they allow it on the plane (flying from Buffalo hopefully if we get a good deal!) and do we have to make special arrangements for that?

I'm sorry I don't know anything about this - but did you try on the DisAbilities board? I'm sure there would be some good info there too. Hey look - new smilies aw:

Just like Duthmommy said check out the Disability board (just under this one). There is a "sticky" topic near the top that was FAQ and list a few off site companies that you can rents ECV and wheelchairs

If she can travel without it, I would strongly recommend that you rent down there rather than before you go. If you are staying on site, the WDW transportation can (mostly) handle ECV's. Only a few special models will fit in a car trunk easily. The advantage of renting down there is that the company will deliver and pick-up from your hotel. Also if you have any problems they will come and replace it immediately.

If you rent in the parks, there are no guarantees. They may be out of the ECV's or wheelchairs, or if you park hop the next park may have none available.
