Hello,
I'm new to this board and I'm looking for help! I can't seem to get motivated to drop the weight I need to (about 20-25 lbs). I've followed WW many times but never have gotten to goal. Now I've gained back 20 lbs., and I can't seem to get myself to stop eating (I think I'm addicted). We are off to WDW in about a month and I had hoped to at least drop 10 lbs, but I've been working at it for two months, and it's up and down (I do well...then blow it), so I'm not down any lbs. Any ideas to get me started back on the right track would be appreciated! Thanks. :goodvibes

I'm having the exact same problem! For the last few months I haven't been able to get myself motivated to exercise or watch what I'm eating. I know I've gained back probably 7-10 pounds but I'm too scared to get on the scale. My DH bought me a new elliptical last night so I'm hoping that will be what I need to kick my butt back into gear.

I am a WW lifetime member who almost immediately after making this - fell off the wagon. Total DUH on my part :confused3 :confused3

I tried on and off for the next 12-18 mths to stick with it and never could and I realized I just wasn't ready to. I wasn't committing..

About 8-9 weeks ago - with my largest sized clothes really too tight - I knew I had to do something. So I started to think back to what did work before when I lost the weight

100% following WW - ok 99%..lol
Exercising
Sleep

I spent the next week or so not changing a thing - just started tracking what I was eating. Oh My gosh - no wonder I was adding weight. So after a week of seeing that I was easily eating 40-45 points a day where I normally qualified for 27/28 points. Woke me up.

I made a list of why I was happier skinnier. I didn't want to be the fat wife of all of our friends. I love Spring and Summer and I wanted to be able to do everything without feeling shy or fat or covered up. I wanted to be comfortable in our own pool, on the boat, Disney water parks this June. So I pulled out my old Excel spreadsheet where I plan/log all of my 3 main meals and 2 snacks a day and took it one day at a time. Week 2 I added walking. My loss was (ok still is) incredibly slow compared to previous attempts but I feel 100% better. My once tight clothes are loose.
I even took up running. I never ever could run more then 1/4 mile despite enjoying walking. 4 weeks later I am now up to 3-4 miles a session and have signed up for my 1st 1/2 marathon in all places - DISNEY...lol

Until you find WHY you want to change and put small goals to it, you will always find more reasons not to do it today.

I am going on Week 8 and sadly have only lost 9lbs. I won't lie to say I am not frustrated by the scale but my clothes are telling a different story and computer chair to 5k in 4 weeks is validation enough for me that what I am doing is right

Good Luck
YOU DESERVE to win

Great advice JoanneNC.

For me, I had to take small steps in my changing of things. I started out by drinking more water and cutting out sodas, then started trying to just cut my portions in half, got better at choosing better items to snack on, etc. and finally started adding exercise in slowly.

Now don't take it that I'm great at it now, some days are still a struggle but if you set your mind to it and decide it is truly what you want, you'll be able to tackle it face on. I've hit an excercise slump and am trying to work through it...each day you may face a new challenge but I look at it as something that is making me stronger.

Staying active on these boards is also a help, there is so much inspiration and motivation that you can get from being on here.

Stay positive and focused!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

What is motivating you to NOT lose the weight?? Do you like the possibility of developing diabetis, arthritis, heart disease and all the other ailments that come along with being overweight? How about your clothes?? Do you like squeezing into everything or shopping for anything that has an elastic waistband? Because the 20 lbs that you carry now will eventually turn into 25, 30, 40+ lbs unless you do something now!! You mentioned doing WW in the past...did it not work for you? Or are you just bored with it? Maybe you need to try a different diet such as South Beach. How about exercise? Are you able to spend 20-30 minutes a few times a week to take a brisk walk or pop in a workout DVD? Sometimes its hard to find the time for exercise with work and family life but the weight is not coming off unless you start moving.

I don't mean to sound harsh and I am certainly not the poster child for weight loss.....I am working on my last 10-15 lbs right now doing the WW online program and doing cardio or exercise at least 4 days a week. It is a slow process...some weeks are great, others not so great. But I am losing weight and getting fit because I can.

Spend some time on the WISH board...many of the threads have been very motivating....and good luck:hug:

First off good luck. Knowing you want to get in shape is the first step. When I got into shape I started by getting rid of the empty calories. I started drinking my coffee black and stopped drinking any kind of pop and started drinking water.

I started tracking what I ate and exercising. I started running and went from barely finishing a mile to a 5K, to a 10K, to a half marathon.

I recommend starting to read up on healthy lifestyles. I subscribed to Men's Health and some other magazines just to up on strategies. I started reading labels.

Most importantly, I didn't start a diet! I changed my lifestyle. Of everything I did I think this was the most important change. Diets are short term, lifestyle changes are for life (or should be).

Fantastic Advice!!!!! Stay strong and have faith that you will succeed. You will feel so much better once you start your "new" way of life.
