Motion Sickness

I get motion sickness very bad. Can't ride in the back seat of a car even. I get sinus infections that also make me dizzy. When I fly or go to theme parks, I use Bonine (available at many retailers, and online). I take 2 in the morning before heading to the parks. I can ride all the rides, including Flight of Passage and Mission Space Orange, the coasters, etc. and not get sick.

I also take it the day I fly.

I have tried Dramamine which makes me sleepy. Their non-drowsy formula makes me jittery and makes me feel awful. I forgot my Bonine in the hotel room one Animal Kingdom day, and all Disney ahd was non-drowsey Dramamine. My day was ruined. I felt sick before going on rides, and kept that constant sick feeling most of the day. Bonine doesn't have those effects and keeps me from feeling sick.

That being said, I would never recommend closing your eyes. I tried that the day I used the Non-Drowsy Dramamine and was feeling sick on FoP, and it made me feel worse!!

Does anyone have any thoughts on the ear patch vs. bonine/dramamine? I always take Bonine (Dramamine makes me sleepy) and I can do some things, but I still get a little woozy. I'm thinking of trying the patch for our Thanksgiving trip. I've worn it before after surgeries, so I know I don't have any aversions to it. But I wonder it it works better/worse/same as Bonine?

I do Bonine, too, but still get a little woozy, not too bad, on Everest. I have only ever taken one though. Maybe I'll try 2 for my upcoming trip! And I'm like you...my sinuses make me dizzy quite a bit!

It must be the "inactive" ingredients in non-drowsy Dramamine that get you - the active ingredient is the same in both Bonine and non-drowsy Dramamine.

Bonine Ingredients
  • Active Ingredients (in each tablet) Meclizine HCI 25 mg.
  • Inactive Ingredients Croscarmellose Sodium, Crospovidone, FD&C Red #40 Lake, Lactose, Magnesium Stearate, Raspberry Flavor, Silica, Sodium Saccharin, Stearic Acid, Vanilla Flavor.
Non-drowsy Dramamine Active Ingredients: In Each Tablet: Meclizine Hcl (25 Mg). Inactive Ingredients: Anhydrous Lactose, Corn Starch, Colloidal Silicon Dioxide, D&C Yellow 10 Aluminum Lake, Magnesium Stearate, Microcrystalline Cellulose.

I'm anxious about FOP. Is it the type where I could close my eyes or look down from the screen if it gets bad??
I get motion sick very easily but I'm ok with FOP perhaps because you have a breeze in your face the whole time. You can close your eyes if it starts to bother you . It's a really neat ride.
