I've shown my son the videos on youtube of the TOT. I don't believe him but he says he wants to go on it! He's never been on anything more stimulating than a kiddie roller coaster or the tea cups. How many young children if any come off of this feeling ill?

TOT is less motion inducing than the evil teacups!!! way less. If he can go on those things he can go on anything in the parks. Those are the worst things and the only things I won't go on including mission space orange.

There is nothing really to get motion sick on TOT it is just a drop like on coaster no spinning.

Kids go on very young, I have ridden with 3 yr olds. you are in an enclosed compartment in a seat with a seat belt. My kids all loved it as soon as they were tall enough to go on.

Agree completely with Hannathy. The Tea Cups are much more likely to leave kids (& adults) queasy or dizzy than ToT!

A much bigger concern for young children is that they may be frightened by the Tower of Terror pre-ride presentation and the beginning parts of the ride after strapping into the elevator. (If you are unfamiliar with the ride, you don't start dropping immediately after buckling in. There's about a minute or so of other stuff you see while the elevator rises to the necessary height and moves into position.) These elements can scare some young children.

That said, Tower of Terror is my favorite ride in all of WDW.

Winterman, he is 5.

I have shown him several videos that have everything pretty well lit before the drops so he has seen how creepy and dark it is. We saw people screaming their heads off LOL and he still wants to ride it!! I have ridden it before back in 97' so I do remember a little bit myself. I'm just nervous since he's never done anything this stimulating. Thanks for the replies :)

I'm 53 and scared of the Tea Cups!!! I couldn't walk 100 feet without having a protein spill. ToT is nothing compared to the horrors of the Tea Cups.

This is our year, this is our game and tonight will be our night. Thanks again Oreo Boy!!

It depends on what makes him motion sick in other contexts. If he's happy on the swings and can do hilly roller coasters he'll be fine. Me - the yo-yo effect makes me sick, sick, sick.

I dont think ToT is really that bad. It doesnt leave you dizzy or anything, just makes you feel kinda fluttery if you know what i mean.

I have never been on it but what scares me the most is that there is nothing to hold on to

I am 45 and I won't ride it. I do have motion issues. I tried it like 3-4 times and didn't do well on it at all.

I will skip that to be able to ride RnR. I don't feel great after that but I enjoy it more.

I sat on the end and was able to hold onto the edge of the bench... I mean, not that it makes you feel much safer, but I held on anyway. I loved TOT and will definitely ride it every time I go!

I saw a 4yo boy riding it, so I'm thinking your son will be fine.

I also saw a 6-7yo boy leave via the chicken gate, mainly because of the pre-story. He was really scared by all of that.

So I think that's something to consider.

Hope this helps! :)

ToT doesn't spin so I think he'd be less likely to get sick on that than on the teacups. Even I won't ride the teacups. :lmao:

Motion Sickness will not be an issue on TOT, I believe. But I do think his age will be an issue with the fear factor. If he is okay with very fast, and dropping roller coasters, then he will be fine on TOT. I have been on TOT and there is no way my 5 year old son would go on it. A couple more years for my son before he's ready for TOT.

Tea Cups aren't my favorite, but I really didn't like ToT. If they'd yanked me up and down one more time it wasn't going to be pretty. Safe to say, once was enough. If it had been just one drop it would have been OK - but it was a lot of up-and-down the time we went.

I think it's really going to depend on how he usually reacts to that stomach-in-your-throat feeling.

The dark and creepy parts are what my DS (12) doesn't like. He does get very motion sick, but loves ToT. We love the feeling that after the first drop or two, you can't tell if you are going up or down! It is so fun when your bottom comes up off the seat and you lose your sense of direction!
