For all you weak stomach people take heart - YOU CAN RIDE ALL THE RIDES!

I just returned from my whirlwind trip to WDW and rode all the rides I wanted to including Buzz (4 times), Primwhirl, Teacup...you name it, I rode it (except Space Mountain - no one wanted to go with me...bummer). I had absolutly no problem....the key - patches. I contacted my doctor before leaving and got a Rx and rode to my hearts delight. I forgot to read the directions until I was on the bus to the park and then discovered I should have taken them earlier, but even that did not seem to be a problem.

Hmmm . . . you've got me thinkin'. How much of a motion sickness problem do you normally have??

I can usually handle TOT and BTMRR, but haven't forced myself to try SM or RNRR because I didn't want to ruin my day. When I fly, I'm always the one checking to be sure there's a bag in the seat in front of me!!! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

I took a one-day cruise to the Greek Islands several years ago (was in Athens at the time). PUH..LEEZE!!!!!!!

Several posters on the cruise forum (myself included) have experienced nasty side affects from the scop patch. Mostly blurred vision and dry mouth. The reason I think some people react differently to it, it is a standard Rx and the time-release meds. are the same for all different types of users.

I strongly advise trying it at home for a day to see how it makes you feel! Products like Bonine and Sea Bands have various success stories as well! It's important to find out what works for you before you leave home!

I absolutely second natt's suggestion - try your proposed remedy before you leave home. I didn't and discovered the hard way that Bonine makes me *extremely* drowsy - i had to go get an espresso to try to counteract the drowsiness enough to keep moving. Whatever you decide to try, try it before you leave home.

My patch experience ...

a few years ago, DH & I went on a cruise. My Dr. recommended the patch for me (Transderm Scop) and prescribed some. I used one every day on my cruise, per the directions. The first two days were great. After that, I had terrible blurred vision, extremely dry mouth, pupils were dilated (so I always had to wear sunglasses) and was still nauseous on one of the rockier days at sea.

When I came home, I went through 3 days of vomiting and dizziness, continued blurred vision and dilated pupils ... I felt as if I were motion sick. My doctor told me that my body was going through withdrawal symptoms from the medication in the patch. It was horrible.

Last time I went to Disney, I used 12 hour Dramamine. I only needed it during the day ... so by the next morning, it worked its way through my system and I was ok to take another one in the morning.

I used Mecalzine this time, they say to take it the night before (works for 24 hours) in case it causes any drowsiness. I was determined to ride RNR this time, family kept begging me, didn't have any nausea. Went on it twice, but even the Mecalzine can't seem to pry my eyes open when going into the loops:p :p

I read in Cosmo last month that "candied ginger" works to prevent motion sickness. I heard you can get it at a health food store. Has anyone tried this?
