Can anyone recommend a non drowsy form of motion sickness medications for children? This will be my son's first cruise and I just want to be prepared...I've already gotten him a pair of sea bands but would also like medicine of some sort. I wojld just go with Dramaine for kids but I'm worried about the drowsiness factor!

Thanks for any advice!:)

We have motioneaze drops and sea bands for my car sick daughter. We will also take them on the ship along with the Dramamine for kids just in case!!

Also someone else mentions sour candy can help (think Preggie pop drops) along with saltines. Or a lemon with salt even!

Talk to your Dr. Be careful what you give your children. I researched and found the only thing FDA approved for them is Dramamine for Kids. Planning in discussing it with our Nurse Practioner today

Hopefully you won't need them. Our DS gets car sick within about 15 - 20 mins in a car, but has been on 6 cruises and hasn't felt the least bit sick! We are lucky with the meds in the car, he has had 2 or 3 different ones, they work really well and don't make him drowsy. We are in the UK so our melds will be different, but we use Joy Rides, Kids Kwells or if we can't get the others Stugeron but it takes 2 hours to work rather than the 20 mins of the others.

Thank you all so much for the suggestions! I will get some motionease drops for sure! And I'll also talk to my sons pediatrician...he'll be 5 when we go so I am nervous about what to give him since he's so young...thanks everyone for the tips!:)

That's very helpful! We have one that gets car sick very easily and we were wondering if that guaranteed he would get sea sick. It's good to know that there is a chance he will not.

Our DD gets airplane sick, and sick in long buses and car journeys, and has only felt seasick once in 6 cruises - the last night of our last cruise we had 15ft waves (or so I heard, they were rough anyway). She hasn't been sick any other time, including on a Transatlantic crossing where we had to list into the wind.
