Hello
I went on Gringotts last year and did OK. But Transformer killed me! I want to go on Forbidden Journey and MiB. How do you think I will do with motion sickness on those?

Check out YouTube to see what happens on the ride
MIB has spinning at the near end of the ride which could be upsetting to you

FJ has moments that can be difficult

Both have their moments that can cause vertigo

I look at my feet on fj at different times
The chasing scenes of the video are my issues on that ride

It doesn't do me in for the park day as I know the parts I shouldn't look at during the ride

Gringotts is a fairly easy ride and we don't get many reports of folks being bad on it with motion sickness issues.......in fact I haven't seen any.

FJ is a rough one for that........I can do it once, maybe twice and I'm done for the day.......for reference the only ride I cannot do is The Simpsons......can do everything else fine........I can't close my eyes and it's ok.......for some that works.......

I found TF rough last year.....gave it a miss a couple of days.

MIB.........it's not too bad until the end when you do spin a few times..........I do the old ice skater trick and focus on one point every time we turn.........I do the same with the spins in Spiderman too. Works for me, may not work for everyone.......

Good advice from Mac as to check out YouTube videos of rides.......will give you a good idea of what to expect.

I have heard FJ is bad enough that a friend of mine with motion sickness was sick a for a long time after.

Forbidden Journey will kill you. MIB isn't as bad since it isn't screen based. It does have some twirling though.

Thanks everyone for the advice! i did watch the you tube video but it was hard to see the actual ride movement.

So maybe I will do FJ last and take one for the team!

Anyone use Ginger or a patch to help with motion sickness.

I use ginger a lot for nausea at home.......but did nothing for me to help with the rides. However, having some ginger candy if I felt nauseous after a ride like I did after sitting in the back row of RRR (usually do the front row).....helped a bit.

I've read on here folks having success with a patch.

I've learned how to deal with the spinning on MiB. The only one that gets me is the one at the end - the two earlier ones are milder. But at the end, as you're eaten by the bug, you turn slowly to the left, then snap back to the right - and the snap is what does it to me. (The same way that Cat in the Hat used to, before it was toned down.) Well, as the car turns to the left, I gradually turn my head to the right. Then when the car snaps, I quickly turn my head the other way to counteract the snap. Seems to help. This is similar to Schumigirl's solution.

What I can't remember at the moment is whether or not the two tracks snap in opposite directions. So you'd need to be prepared.

Another ride that will get those with motion sickness is the Minions. Back when it was Jimmy Neutron, it got me more than any of the coasters or simulators, by far. So since it was converted to the Minions, I've only ridden it using the stationary seating. It's still fun, but I usually glance over my shoulder at some point, and I'm always glad I chose to go stationary.

I could not do gringotts. FJ And MIB are absolutely horrible for me. I will never do either again. My son can ride anything and he rode FJ once and never again.

Isn't that odd!! I can ride minions and have no ill effects at all.......doesn't affect me in the slightest with motion sickness.........At Universal it's only Simpsons affect me badly and FJ if I ride more than twice.

I often say on here we all react differently to all rides, this shows how true it is......glad you can still enjoy it with the motionless seats.......such a cute little ride......

Stationary seats!!! That is super awesome!!!!! Anyone know what other rides have those?

The funny part of all of this is that I am a retired army helicopter pilot! Flying doesn't bother me. Especially if I am at the controls. The simulator that we trained in made me sick. It is really those simulator rides that eat my lunch. If I can be in a stationary seat for a few of those rides it would be great.

I love disboard! You guys are great! Thanks for all of the answers!

Along with DM, Shrek has the motionless seats too.

I'm pretty sure T3 does too.

That is weird with you being a helicopter pilot.........you always assume guys like you can deal with anything!

But, least you'll be able to enjoy these rides too.......:thumbsup2

Well, this "guy" is a girl. :cutie::cutie:
I read an article about experienced pilots have sim sickness easier because your brain is expecting a certain movement with the visual. And sims are usually off just enough to make that happen.

Great I can do shriek too!!

Have you tried meclizine (bonine, less drowsy dramamine)? Without it, there are several rides I can't ride at all. With it, the only ride I can't ride back to back is Simpsons.

Lol........I knew you were a girl......I just meant generic "you guys"..........I hope you don't take offence at that....none was meant.........:flower3:

Glad you'll get to ride :thumbsup2

None taken....:). Thanks for the advice.

I have motion sickness and always sit out on FJ at the exit. I have seen a lot of people come off that ride in not so great shape. The last 2 visits I have seen medical called in. I can do Gringots and MIB but would never do FJ. I remember in 1991 I rode Back to the Future and was so sick. I exited and walked out to the benches and threw up in the garbage can and had to lay on the bench for 2 hours before I was stable enough to walk to the car to get back to the hotel where I was sick for several hours. I hated ruining my whole day taking the risk on a ride I doubted in the first place

I don't consider myself to have motion sickness but FJ makes me nauseous. If I go on it now I just close my eyes during some of the flying scenes. It also tend to be warm and humid on the ride which doesn't help. I have never had any other issues on any other ride at any of the parks in Florida and I love roller coasters.

I use the same tactic and it seems to help on a lot of the simulator type rides. I hate to miss the rides because the effects are phenomenal but the combination of the movement and the visual stimulation is too much for my brain. If I close my eyes during certain severely swooping or chase scenes, I don't get nauseous. I am going to try some suggestions in other posts for MIB, because that spinning at the end really gets me.
