Has anyone used a motion sickness wristband on Mission To Mars and did it work?I am so prone to motion sickness but I am dying to try Mission To Mars.Bonine makes me very drowsy.I bought one of the battery operated wristbands with the 5 different settings.I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.Thank you!

I am not being picky, but I think you may find it helpful to know that the attraction you are referring to is called Mission: SPACE. The reason I point this out is because an attraction by the name of Mission to Mars did once exist at the Magic Kingdom (where Alien Encounter is now), so there is some potential for confusion.

I have never experienced motion sickness on Mission: SPACE, thus I can't compare the effectiveness of the various motion sickness remedies. Hopefully someone will be able to answer that question for you.

We are just back from the world and loved Mission:Space! I was terrified to go on it as I am prone to motion sickness. I took a bonine the night before as they make me drowsy. They are good for 24 hours. Ate a normal size breakfast 2 hrs prior. We did so great on the ride we went on it again! It was a walk on, so I was on it 10 minutes apart, back to back. I saw nor heard of anyone getting sick. Everyone was smiling and loving it when we all exited. The CM said the ones that get sick are very vocal, therefore everyone is assuming lots get sick. I kept my head back(the force pushes it back, don't fight it!) and looked at the screen. I think I would have been ok without the bonine, it just helped me psychologically I guess;) !
I am very glad I did not chicken out!:teeth:

PTarbay, if you do not want to get sick on Mission Space please listen to the instructions that are given to you right before you board the attraction. These instructions are as follows: Keep looking straight ahead at the video screen in front of you. Keep your head back at all times. Do not move your head around. Do not close your eyes, no matter how scared you might get. If you close your eyes you will definetly feel the rotation of the vehicles, which will cause serious motion sickness. As long as you follow these instructions you should enjoy the attraction. Good luck.

I was fine during the ride. If you follow the instructions, you can avoid motions sickness during the ride. I was dizzy for a couple hours after the ride. I am going to take motion sickness bands with me on my next trip and try them but that is not until March.

My question is are you laying back the whole ride?? I think that would help motion sickness also rather than being moved/jerked around alot. I am looking so forward to my first "lift-off" in another 2 weeks & 1 day but I get motion sickness sometimes also so I plan on taking Bonine - it works wonders in my opinion & does make me drowsy but I'll be fine since I'm in the World - there's plenty to keep me awake!! :D

No, you are not lying back. You do tilt back a bit as you take off. It is not very jerky IMHO. Only once or twice for a second or 2 I think(or either I did not even notice!). I cannot do Star Tours, but totally enjoyed this. DO follow the directions and don't close your eyes or look to either side. You should have no trouble. :D The cold air blowing on you is nice also. I was SO scared I would feel sick that I almost chickened out. I was so scared the first time I could hardly enjoy it. SO, we did it again. We were not even dizzy nor disoriented. Take the Bonine for Peace of mind, or wear the bands. Provides a Psychological advantage at least, and you have done all you can. I really think it is not necessary though and will try it again with nothing.:wave2:

Thank you.I did mean Mission : Space. That Mission to Mars kind of gives my age away.I'm so glad to hear that someone could go on this but not Star Tours.I have a problem with Star Tours. After Body Wars I was a mess.I'm definitely going to try this.I'll have the wristband on in December and I'll let everyone know how it worked.Thank you again for all the help.

Thank you, BBB!!! I have been so worried about trying Mission: Space! because of the way Star Tours and Body Wars makes me feel. I was afraid Mission: Space! would be similar. You have given me the confidence I need to try it on my upcoming trip.

Hope you guys enjoy the success we did! We never even felt uneasy :D ! We talked to a CM before we went in, and also some families that were exiting. They all loved it and gave me confidence! Focus on the screen and your mission and enjoy the ride of a lifetime:D ! Can't wait until we do it again next month. :teeth:

Thanks for sharing! I have been thinking about what I am going to do too. I really want to go on it, but I don't want to be sick while in WDW!

I hate to be the only one to post a bad experience, but DH, DD and I got so motion sick we had to go back to our hotel and lay down. DD never gets motion sick, loves to spin on the Tea Cups. DH and I should have know better because we don't do spinning. I have minor problems on Star Tours and used to on Body Wars but nothing I don't get over after a few minutes. We have cruised 5 or 6 times, 3 in really heavy seas and never had a problem, but this ride really did us in. DH was wondering if Bonine or the wrist bands would help but I'm not trying it again and have my whole day ruined.

I mistakenly closed my eyes because I was getting so sick...and that was a huge mistake! DO NOT CLOSE YOUR EYES!

I was so ill for the rest of the day, I was basically out of comission. We went straight back to the house and stayed there all day and night. But I've learned my lesson.

Keep your eyes open!

(Sorry, can't help with the original question about the bands.)
