Did anyone else get motion sickness on this ride??? Holy moly...I couldn't go on it again, even though I really wanted to! I loved it, and there was no wait (thanks to early entry :thumbsup2), but by about the dementors area, I was really ready to get off...and I took some motion sickness pills too! I did ride it again a couple of days later, just in case I was having an off day, but no...I got motion sickness again! I was green for about an hour! I didn't expect it to be that bad :sad1:

on a side note....butterbeer is AMAZING! Loved it...frozen hands down, way better! :drinking1

Last Oct my husband who has never had motion sickness on any ride and loves spinning rides and coasters got sicker than a dog on FJ twice.:rotfl: He had trouble with it from the beginning when going through the chimneys. Now he had a sinus infection and was on medication at the time, so he blamed it on that. We rode it again last week and he did fine on it, but would only ride it one time, whereas me and a friend rode it several times in a row. He took a meclizine both the night before and again that morning to make sure he didn't have a problem with it. He said he was OK, but didn't care for the feeling it left him with.

Now I went solo last August/Sept and again in Dec and rode it over and over using the single rider line. I didn't have any problem with it, so was really surprised that my husband did. That man loves any amusement park ride and had never had a problem with any of them. He rides the orange side of Mission Space without a problem, but for some reason FJ throws him for a loop.:rotfl:

Forbidden Journey.. THE BEST RIDE IN ORLANDO.. or so I have heard!!! I suffer from motion sickness.. I cannot ride the Simpsons... and I get a bit queasy on Spidey.. but my wife has secured some medication for me.. for our upcoming trip to USF... and I WILL GIVE IT A SHOT AT LEAST ONCE NO MATTER WHAT!!!!

I just have to try it.. I've heard that it is simply too good a ride to miss... so wish me luck!!!

It is generally the simulated portions that make most people sick.

I was worried but it was great! I read on these boards to keep your head back against the head rest. It helped. I was a little dizzy getting off the ride. The moving walkways don't help but recovered quickly. My boys got off and rode again right away. I needed a little break. But I can say after riding it 6-7 times over 3 days, the woozy feeling is less the more you ride.

Now the Simpsons ride....

I have to say I hated about every ride at IOA and US. I spent two days feeling like I was going to throw up all day long. However, the rides were AWESOME!

You hated the rides but they were awesome? Did you hate them because they made you sick? Is that what you mean, lol?

There is one lurch in FJ that makes me feel like I could lose it. I just grit my teeth through that part and the feeling subsides.

The only other ride that bothered me was Jimmy Neutron. I think it's the water thing because Body Wars used to bother me too.

No ride makes me sick like FJ. None. Ever. Done it twice. Next time I will try some drugs first.

I was sick for a whole day after riding Body Wars at Epcot some years ago - I am getting very nervous about FJ but aim to give it a shot with medication (I think)

I was doing really well the second time through the ride, and then it shut down right at the dementors area. The lurch is right after that....So, when it restarted, I instantly felt like i was going to lose my breakfast, and trust me when I say I have some good meds for motion sickness...prescription stuff, and I still got sick!

I don't get motion sickness often -- but FJ made me a little queasy at times, the fast-moving video is not as smooth and sharp as it should be IMO.

If you close your eyes, will the motion sickness stop?

I know that is what I have to do... I usually close my eyes on the Simpsons with all of the "bad parts" (which means I only see about 30 seconds of the entire ride :lmao:). A strategy I will resort to as well if I feel myself going south w/ FJ.

I did the same on the Simpsons ride! On FJ I found that the more we rode it, the more I could anticipate and "go with it". But everytime I stumbled a little at the exit.

is your husband tall?

when it first opened, i read that there was a maximum height limit, but now i don't see any mention of that...
i say that because my husband and son, who can ride any thrill ride on the planet, both became ill when they rode dueling dragons (AKA dragon challenge) a few years ago...

they said the moment they sat down they were worried, since both of their heads were above the head support.....apparently, it isn't really supposed to be ridden by people that tall....but there's no restriction and no warning..
and they both got very ill from it......though they never ever get sick on anything else...

anyway, now i'm worried the same thing will happen on FJ, as i recall reading about there being a 6'5" height restriction (and they're both taller than that)..
but now i can't find anything about it..

Maximum height is 6'7"

Maximum height is 6'7"

thanks!
where did you find that? i looked, but couldn't find any mention of it..

so that's that...they won't be able to ride FJ....
interesting that universal builds its rides with maximum as well as minimum heights...kind of unusual....
none of the disney rides have maximum heights ...at least none i'm aware of...

We asked when we were there. I saw the sign and thought of my husband (who wasn't with me on this trip...it was just the girls!). My hubby is 6'4" and I thought he would have been less than impressed if he wouldn't have been able to ride because of his height...its normally the other way around.
