I can't do Gravol and stay awake at all. I'm going on my first cruise in about 3 weeks and I have the ginger pills, getting the sea bands, and I have the patch that contains scopolamine. I hope that will do it because I don't want to miss my first cruise drugged and sleeping in my cabin for the whole week
You should probably experiment a little to better understand the nature of it, or talk to your family physician. That sounds like a pretty pronounced version, but if video games do it, then simulator rides where you stay stationary are probably ruled out. You would have to experiment with the better simulator rides where you move with the action to see if they impact you (think FOP).I'm not exactly sure what causes my motion sickness. Maybe it's related to the inner ear? I'll even get motion sick playing video games! Usually when there is a lot of movement. I have avoided rides and roller coasters for years, but would like to see what I can enjoy at Disney with my family.

I thought I had found the solution for my motion sickness in Bonine, without the drowsiness. Actually, it worked great for my first four Disney trips. Then I went on a RCCL cruise (Oasis of the Seas) with a friend and I could not stay awake! All I had to do was sit down and I would start nodding off. I took it in the evening, like many suggest, but I was sleepy all the time. I most definitely felt the ship moving all the time, but at least I wasn't motion sick. I thought it was just a fluke because it was a ship, instead of other moving things. Well, I felt the same way on my last Disney World trip. I think the difference was that I had quit caffeine a few months prior to my cruise. My guess is that all the other years, my level of drowsiness was counteracted by my caffeine consumption. I can't be certain, but that's my theory. Now that I don't drink caffeine anymore, I'm back to feeling drowsy. So, I don't know what I'll use in the future. At least at Disney World I'm not driving (Magical Express and buses), so I'm not in any unsafe situations.
Thanks. I will give that a try.Try using half the dosage. I only need half a Bonine and it does the trick.
