Yeah, we were forced to evacuate on Thursday. They were telling us to go north on I-75 so we went to Universal and actually got to experience the eye of the storm! It was kind of funny because we went to Earthquake and Twister earlier in the day and rode out Charley at night. It was pretty intense and both of my kids were frightened for their life. We actually laid on the floor and pulled the mattress off of the 2nd queen over us. The sliding glass door on our room was blown off track and the roof was peeled back. The McDonald's next door lost their golden arches and power lines were down all around us.
We drove home down the middle of the state because I-4 was a parking lot for the million that evacuated from Tampa. We drove nearly 200 miles before we found a gas station that had power. The middle of the state didn't fair too well. Us coastal clowns are kind of used to the annual scares but the folks in Lake Wales and the like don't ever get too excited.
Our house was fine but our trees were like pixie sticks. We will be busy for a few weekends cutting firewood.
Thanks to everyone in our Dis family for your thoughts and prayers. Your support means a lot and is a comfort to me.
