My mom just called. Her and my dad are planning on stopping by tonight because we have a family NCAA pool where we all pick teams and follow them through the tournament. (Family tradition...)
Anyway, so, first she calls this morning and asks when DH will be home. He has been really busy at work, and it's an hour commute, so it's been kind of late. He told me that he'll try to leave at 5 so we can eat at a decent hour, but if he can't just order something he can eat cold (like pizza) and we can eat w/o him. My mom then says "Well, we don't want to be waiting around all night, so if he's not home by 6, we're just not going to come." I forgot that DH is the only one they want to see, not their daughter or their granddaughter.
THEN, this is the kicker: She just called me and asked what we were doing for dinner. Since they couldn't give me a solid time as to when they were coming over, and since DH time getting home is unpredictable, I figured I'd just order a pizza. My mom got all disgusted with me, and said " Ugh, Pizza? I thought maybe you'd cook for us. You are a 31 year old SAHM, a nice home cooked meal would be nice."
Am I out of line for thinking she was rude? Especially to call me a few hours before they come over to request dinner? I'm feeding them, just not making it from scratch!?!?!?!
Maybe it's the pregnant hormones talking, but for some reason, it just rubbed me the wrong way. Like what I was doing wasn't good enough. Am I overreacting?
