Mother of the Bride Question

My DD isn't getting married at Disney but I wanted help from the experts!! My DD is having a late afternoon wedding for under 100 people. Her attendant is wearing a tea length dress, DD's is long, she wants everything to be elegant but relaxed. I picked out a long dress but the Mother of the Groom choose a tea length dress.

Will my dress be ok? Should I try to have it taken up to tea length?

i think my mom wore a knee length suit type thing which looked amazing and my mil wore a tea length dress. it looked fine. what does your dd have to say?

DD says to wear whatever makes me happy. I want to make sure I'm proper wearing long if the matron of honor wears tea length....

As the mother of the bride you should wear whatever you choose and what makes you feel the most comfortable.


Traditionally (Ha these days things are done differently) The MOB chooses her dress first (color length and style) then the MOG may choose hers.
Typically they say the parents should blend with the bridal party but I'm not really sure if they even do that anymore. I wore champagne and the grooms mom wore black and white. That is another old fashion thing about not wearing black to a wedding I think it looks elegant some old schoolers think its inappropriate. But your daughter has told you to choose what you want so that makes things very easy for you..... Enjoy this special time and have a blast planning.

Thanks. I told MOG what I was choosing to wear but she still chose a short dress. My dress is also champagne - she says hers is purple.

I think it will be fine. When my stepson was married, I asked his fiance and MOB the same question and was told to choose something I loved. MOB said don't wait for her to choose because she wouldn't buy anything until a week before the wedding (and she didn't.. I would have been in a panic!). Out of courtesy I then asked MOG and got the same answer. So, the bridesmaids wore tea length, MOB wore pants, MOG wore long dress and I wore tea length. Everything worked well together and each of us was comfortable. Enjoy!!
