I am looking for ways to incorporate a song for my mother into my reception. I would feel odd dancing with her in the traditional father/daughter dance sort of way, but I want to make sure it gets the same sort of respect when it is played. Did any one do this and how did you incorporate it?

I went to a friend's wedding, a few months ago, that incorporated a mother daughter dance (Also they mostly hugged). She was primarily raised by her mother and never really had a relationship with her dad so she felt the that it was important to honor her mother. She used the song, "In My Daughter's Eyes" by Martina McBride.

This is a great idea!! My mom and I love to Dance so maybe a line dance of some sort...something more fun and upbeat then a slow song?

You can do "Baby Mine" from Dumbo and have everyone in the place crying.

I think that is a very nice idea to do something for your mother.

My mom and I are doing "Thank You for Being a Friend" from The Golden Girls. I dunno how we're doing it, but that's gonna be the song! :)

Thanks for asking this!! I've been meaning to ask this for a while. I don't have anything to do with my father - his choice not mine! and my mam and aunts have raised me. I don't think we'll do a dance but would like to do something to show how much I appreciate everything they have done for me

These ideas are great - thanks everyone!
