My DH and DS are going out for the day this Sunday. So i would like to do something with my DD10. I do not want to spend a lot of money, but would like to do something fun! Does any one have any ideas?

TIA

dinner and a movie
manicure and pedicure
rent a movie and get take out
get hair cuts
go shopping

Have fun!!

What is your budget like? Could you do manicures? Maybe go shopping somewhere the boys whine when they have to go with you? Are there any plays or shows nearby that you would enjoy? I know many high schools do plays this time of the year.

I have a 10yr dd and her choice would be: pedicures, cappucinos or ice cream, eating out, and shopping at Barnes & Noble and Target.

My DD11 likes to do mani/pedis, we do them at home. :) On days we are alone we do lunch and nails, or we make cupcakes, or brownies, watch a movie together. :)

My DH and DS were off skiing this last weekend so, DD and I made spa items to take on our trip to WDW, (bath bombs and scented "rocks" for suitcases).

Friday night we had Chinese food and watched Mulan and then Sunday night we made jambalaya and watched the princess and the frog.
Loved every minute of it!
Have fun!

DD and I do Mother/Daughter days once a month.

Our favorites:

Pedicures (we skip the manicures to save money)
Lunch someplace special (we go into the city and I let her choose where to go)
Paint your own pottery places
Roller skating
Movie theater

Her most favorite is to go to Cheesecake Factory for dessert and a "fancy drink".

and once we splurged and got a deal on a hotel room. We ordered a pizza for dinner, played in the pool and watched a pay per view movie.

I don't know were in NJ you are, but mani/pedi's are so inexpensive here, and dd9 loves them, as well as a trip to the mall.

Sorry to go OT - but I joke with my girlfriends that the only 2 things cheap in NJ are mani/pedis and a gallon of gas (at least in respect to NY)!!

just my 2cents,
karenos;)

My DD13 and I always look forward to hunting season, because we have girl time. Sometimes that means going to lunch/dinner and a movie, going to the mall and doing a little shopping, or buying some craft stuff and doing crafts together. Mostly we just enjoy eating the things my husband doesn't like to eat. Sounds crazy, but we almost always go to Golden Corral one night. My husband refuses to eat there. Whatever you decide to do, I know you will have fun!!

I don't know where you are in NJ but you could go into NYC and get the cheaper broadway tickets and catch a show.

Can you share your recipes for the bath bombs and rocks? My DD's would love
to make these, thanks!

My DD9 would pick shopping and a fun lunch - she loves to go to Panera and get hot chocolate. I think she likes to have the coffee cup. She thinks it makes her look cool like her 15 year old cousin who drinks Starbucks!!

I don't know if your daughter has anything special that she likes to do but my daughter loves to cook. Her favorite thing to do is to spend the day cooking with me! We will spend an afternoon making meals for the week and baking. It makes my life so much easier and she loves it! It is a very budget friendly way to spend some quality time together and she is developing a new skill! We always have so much fun.

How about tea?

Every once and a while my mom and I or us and some girlfriends will go to Reynold's Tavern in Annapolis for High Tea. You get the works, little sandwiches, scones, pastries, chocolates. It's a fun "girly" thing to do if your DD would have fun doing it. I find tea is becoming more popular, you can maybe find a place in a downtown area or a historic area of a town that will do it.

Both of my DD's (8/5) love for me to take them to U Paint It. It is a place where you go in and pick out an item to paint leave it there, they glaze it and call you when it is ready. Do you have a place like this in your town?? Ours has tons of stuff to paint. (mugs, picture frames, plates, figures):thumbsup2

We have a place here that does High Tea -took my mom there for her birthday. It was fun, about 50.00 per person but most of those little finger sandwich things I would not eat but my mom liked them!

If there's an Indoor Water Park near by see if they have a cheap 1 day pass. Get out of the cold and pretend like your on vacation.

Here is my 10 year old DD's idea of a great mom/daughter day:

go to our local paint your own ceramics place
go to Borders and browse/read for an hour
eat at her favorite restaraunt

How about going to a craft store and buying items for a scrapbook? It could be vacation/friends/disney themed. Then you can make it together at home. DD and I did this one snow day last year, but we made a scrapbook for all of her high school activities. It was fun and we had a great time making it and looking back at her HS years.
