i was thinking earlier that many rides at disney are so hyped when they aren't even that good, so here's a thread where we can share our thoughts of the most underrated and overrated rides at Walt Disney World.

Out of all of the parks the most underrated rides are the Enchanted Tiki Room and Journey into Imagination. The most overrated rides are Splash Mountain, FEA, and KRR.

Overrated: Jungle Cruise, Soarin

Underrated: Living with the Land, Great Movie Ride

Underrated: Living w the Land

Over: TSMM

However, I think most of the rides are pretty darn good. Think about the lines (and the cost per ride) if any of them were in a regular town. We used to have one of those small simulator rides at the mall near where I grew up - it really wasn't anything special, and I want to say it cost something like $7 per ride (back in the late 80s/early 90s). There were always lines, and we'd beg our parents to let us ride.

Obviously some rides are better than others (immersive, innovative technology, cohesive storyline, etc), but overall Disney does a fantastic job. I never bother with carnival rides, because all I can think of the whole time is how relatively crappy the rides are compared to the ones at Disney and Uni.

Over rated for me is a tie between TSMM and RNRC, I never ride RNRC any more - it hurts my neck. I don't ride TSMM if I'm going solo, just ride it if my son is with me.

Under rated - While not technically a ride Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, I loved the book, I loved the movie and I love climbing the treehouse. If it has to be a ride I'd agree with Living with the Land.

Overrated: FEA and SDMT

Underrated: Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. I just think it's so cute and Monsters Inc. is my favorite movie so I may be a little bias.

Underrated is Spaceship Earth. This is still the classic attraction of what EPCOT was and will never be again.

Overrated is SDMT. It's good but all it is a coaster with 45 seconds of dwarfs. The old Snow White scarey adventures was better.
I agree with all of this.

Underrated: Living with the Land, Beauty and the Beast Live Show

Overrated: I will probably be chastised for saying this....but....Fantasmic.

Under rated for us was living with the land. My parents and I really enjoyed this ride.

Over rated for me is tower of terror. Did not enjoy waiting in line for 2 hours only to go up and down 3 times. Boring.

Under-rated: Celebrate the Magic. Ok, that's a show but it seems to get no recognition sandwiched between MSEP and Wishes.

Overrated: Space Mtn and PotC.

I could call blasphemy on so many posts here... :rotfl2: Nah, just joking, I am definitely not that guy! :goodvibes

IMHO though:

Under rated - Spaceship Earth

Overrated - Jungle Cruise :duck:

:tinker:

Overrated: Peter Pan...we enjoy it, but the waits it draws doesn't equal the experience

Under: Turtle Talk...very funny and one of our surprise favorites in Epcot

Overated. Was going to say Soaring .. People ran to the ride when i went to EPCOT 6 years ago at rope drop but then people have said Peter Pan and i totally argee with that. 120 min wait for the ride and it is just so boring

Underated. Mickeys Phillimagic .

Overrated: Soarin' - it just doesn't appeal to me.

Underrated: The People Mover. There's something about trundling above Discoveryland that I really enjoyed, way more than I expected to.

I do not understand the need to over rate or under rate. We enjoy Disney. For nearly 60 years. We go on each and every ride, each and every trip. Love them all, some better than others, but that's what makes a trip!
60 years ago there was only DL, with all you could afford to buy fast passes (called ticket books). Doing everything was quite feasible.

Nowadays at WDW, with four theme parks, two water parks, DS, and a bunch of extra-cost activities both in and out of the parks, going on each and every ride is extremely difficult for most people, even if you don't count the shows and ignore the rides that many people won't do for various reasons (like MS:Orange). How many people really consider the Liberty Belle worth the nominal wait? Or go to Tom Sawyer Island if they don't have kids?

Most people, even if they didn't want to omit any rides, still need to pick and choose due to time constraints. This is just a different way to look at rides for that purpose.

Interesting thread. I have to agree with the poster who said KRR is overrated. Anyone who has been on Popeye at Universal knows that KRR pretty much stinks.

Other than that, I can't think of much else that is overrated. I'd say Figment, but no one ever says a good thing about it, so in that sense (no pun intended) it may actually be underrated.

As far as underrated attractions:

Carousel of Progress - just try to get that song out of your head.

Primeval Whirl - especially fun if there isn't much of a line and you can go on over and over again

Astro Orbiter - total old school kind of ride that many amusement parks in the country have. But put it up on a platform above Tomorrowland with views of the castle and rest of the park and it makes for a great few minutes of fun
