Alright, alright I know that many of you think that the idea of romantic value resort is an oxymoron. But …to a young couple on a budget taking their first real vacation together it sounds wonderful! We decided that if we stayed in a value resort we would save over $500 on our trip. $500 means more nice sit-down restaurants and more drinks at Downtown Disney! I am trying to figure out which value resort would be the most romantic or most quiet (again a quiet value resort = oxymoron). I just need building specifics. We are both under 25 and kids at heart. Thinking about ASMu in the Jazz Buildings kind of tucked away but still close to everything and they have those little rose gardens around the paths (I might be making this up since I was 14 when I was there…I can’t remember!) Please Help….

The Jazz buildings at All Star Music would be a good choice. :thumbsup2

Hope you lovebirds find lots of romance. :)

All Star Music is my favorite resort. It tends to be the quietest of all the values.

Here is a map of sports and music:

Here is the map of Movies:

DH and I enjoy the landscaping and peacefulness of All Star Music.
We enjoy relaxing by the pool (there are plenty of chairs and lounges), and the beautiful lighting at the resort by night.

I have never had the unfortunate experience of running into the any of the large
groups of teens who sometimes stay at the values on school trips.
As long as you can avoid those large groups I do not think Noise will be an issue.

*HINT if you close your bathroom door at night you might not even hear the turbo toilets.
I close my bathroom door and I don't hear them.

I love The All Star Resorts.

I am 56 years old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe and mod resorts are just another hotel/motel to me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

All Star Music is my favorite. It is quieter because more couples stay there. I love staying at the Calypso building. It is closer to the pool, food court and bus stop.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.

The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.

The Calypso pool at ASMu has Donald Duck.

The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot, MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING

To me Bus Sharing at the All Stars is really a non issue.

In the mornings during Park opening hours each All Star usually has a dedicated bus.
During mid day it is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes it is all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's own bus back. Each of the All Stars usually has it's own dedicated bus back from the MK.
That is a big plus. It seems like the Music bus stop usually has the shortest of the three All Star bus lines.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

The pools at The All Stars are very kid friendly.

When staying at the All Stars you can use any of the All Star pools. That means 3 main pools ,3 quiet pools and 3 kiddie pools to chose from.

The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.

The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

And the Surfs up pool at All Star Sports has giant surf boards.

Here are a few pool photos.

All Star Movies Mickey Pool.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theming is pure Disney.
My last 5 visits have been at The All Stars and last fall when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 for 8 nights we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?

Have a great time at Disney wherever you choose to stay!

POP!!!!!! We stayed there before our disney wedding and it was fabulous!!!!!!!!!! and sooo romantic!!!! we took many a late night walk hand in hand around the lagoon! they have these fabulous signs talking about the different years and what was big then! so cool! then we walked the bridge all the way to the end and just looked at thew water and talked....ahhhh

we're going back this year again!!! we love it there!!

Here's another vote for POP! My DF and I went last year and had a fabulous time :thumbsup2

Granted I haven't stayed at Pop (yet) but I like your choice at ASMu and it's your best bet for some P&Q in my opinion. Save the romatic walks for Boardwalk and after dinner at the Poly or what have you. :)

You remembered the little garden around the path. :thumbsup2

I really like the garden too.

I also love the Calypso music playing by the pool. :goodvibes

Garden near Broadway

The Standard rooms Jazz building at All Star Music( as well as the new family suites) is being refurbished with all new furniture one of DIS members just stayed in a newly refurbished standard room and posted her PICS.

Take a look at post # 8. Here is the thread:

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1139297

I really like new look especially the artwork of Mickey conducting the orchestra on the wall!

After staying at all the value resorts over the years, I'd have to say that Broadway at ASMu is the most romantic. It's just beyond Jazz, but close to the quiet pool - the theming is the best romantically!!!

Good luck on your decision!!! :teeth:

Pop! I've been to both All Stars and Pop and would say Pop!

As you can tell by all the votes Pop is a very popular resort.
No one (yet) is telling you Sports is romantic or that Movies is romantic.

But because Pop it is so popular it is also a very crowded, very active, and a high energy type of resort.

The icons bring back childhood memories for those who grew up in 60's, 70's, and 80's.
I think it is very appealing to young parents plus it has some of the Disney characters which the children love.
Take a look at the photos of Pop and you can tell why young families enjoy staying there.

If you were looking for a fun high energy type of resort with a "Disney feel" then I would be the first to recommend Movies or Pop but since you want a more laid back vacation I still highly recommend Music.

Here are some photos of Pop from allearsnet.com

Have fun wherever you choose to stay!

In terms of value hotels, we have only stayed at ASMo. We have 2 young children. :goodvibes BUT..... we have strolled the grounds of all 3 all star resorts while a child was napping in a stroller just to see what they were like.

I think you would be VERY happy at ASMu. You don't find as many children there...and the area you mentioned is very pretty. I agree w/ Linda...Pop is very high energy like ASMo and though I'm sure it's very nice...wouldn't fit the bill for romantic value. Same thing w/ Sports. Unless you and your friend were really into some sport that brought you together, I don't see it as a romantic spot.

Trust your memory and instincts...stay w/ ASMu!!! HOpe you have a wonderful time!

ASMu- Broadway. To have a quiet little stroll where there's benches to sit is nice.

My vote is POP! Walking the lagoon at night is great!!!!! :cool1: And Romance is a feeling you can create that anywhere.

POP CENTURY !

Our room faced the lake, other than building decor, it was so quiet and peaceful with wonderful sunsets. The pathway along the lake with benches was a nice get away. Then walk out on the bridge (to no where) and sit in the middle and just enjoy the lights of the resort on the lake without the noise and activity.

And even though the resort seemed packed, the bowling pin and computer pools were virtually empty where finding a couple lounges apart and alone was most certainly easy.

I would say the All-Star Music. Ask for a room far from the food court and buses and not pool views. You will have a hike to this stuff but your room will be quiet.

I have thought a lot about POP but.... every review I have read has said that they are super busy!!! I don't know if that will hold true because we bought our plane tickets for Feb3-8 wich we are hoping will be slower than normal but defintely warmer than an Iowa winter. :sunny:

We were there close to around the 4th of July last year and it wasn't any busier than other values. We had such a wonderful time and it has been our best vacation to date. We loved those strolls around the buildings and down the walkways. It was very romantic
