Most romantic locations in DL?

My DH and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary and going to DL without the kids. I would love some advice for some romantic things to do while we are there. Of course we will keep it G rated but somewhere we could just have some quite, peaceful time together.

We also celebrated our 10th this year, and it was the most wonderful trip! What made it really special was our stay at the GC, where we came back from dinner with rose petals all over the bed, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries(let them know you are celebrating your anniversary). Our view of Downtown Disney faced the violinist, and we could sit on the balcony and feel like we were serenaded. I highly recommend dinner at the Napa Rose and although, we could see DCA park from the restaurant, it felt worlds away.

As for the park, it felt great to get on whatever rides we wanted, however many times we wanted. We also enjoyed shopping without the kids, and meandering throughout all the stores without anyone asking to buy something.

Try to take as many pictures as you can together and just hold hands and stroll. You will have a great time!

We didn't go for our anniversary - but DH and I went, just the two of us, for his 50th birthday in July.

Most romantic thing we did one morning was a ride on IASW - no one in the boat with us - no one in the 3 boats in front of us and no one in the 2 boats behind us. We had the whole small world ride to ourselves and actually took some flash pictures during the ride. We would NEVER take flash pics if it was going to ruin anyone else's ride, but since we were the only ones in there - we did.

Very romantic and sweet to have our own private ride.

How about getting lost in the bushes over on Tom Sawyer Island?? Sorry.....couldn't resist!

Aren't there some nice quiet benches around the side of the castle? (on the left side if you're looking at the castle) You could grab a drink and hang out there.

There might be a bench over around BTMRR......on that walkway from Fantasyland towards Frontierland. There is a small pond area where you can watch "fish" jump and come up for air. I think it's a nice shady spot to hang for a while.

Or stroll around in New Orleans Square and take the time to really check out the buildings & shops. Or sit at the rocking chairs on Main St. Although I'm not quite sure where they are located. I've never managed to secure one!

Anytime of the day by the wishing well is romatic

DBF and I also enjoy sitting on the benches in the matterhorn area at night. Its pretty peaceful. The trees have lights in them. You can also see fireworks from there. Plus is dimly lit and cozy.

We also enjoy taking the grand circle tour on the train. Especially late in the evening. Its very relaxing. Plus, you can sneak a smooch or two there.

My husband and I really enjoyed spending time in The Disney Gallery in New Orleans Square, but I'm not sure if they still have it. Last time we were there, it had been replaced with the hotel room they had for the "Year of a Million Dreams". Not sure if the room was temporary, or if they got rid of the gallery for good. (Hope not- it was such a great place to spend part of a hot afternoon!)

I went with my boyfriend last weekend, and we had one iPod with headphone splitters, so we both could listen to the music at the same time, and let me tell you- waiting in line listening to our favorite bands and just being able to see/enjoy Disneyland with our personalized soundtrack made it feel like we were in our own movie. It was the first time I'd ever done that, and we will definitely be doing it again. [Makes waiting in line easier too!]

Oh! And leaning close together with a blanket over our laps while we held hands during fireworks was another 'must do again'!

I love the Wishing Well! The Disney Gallery is now on Main Street and it seems to get more foot traffic then it did when it was where the Dream Suite is now. I really like riding the Storybook Canals at night, it's so nice with all the lights on, especially the archways that Jasmine & Alladin flew under.
There are lots of little nooks & crannies that are "hidden" away and very peaceful at night, you just have to look for them. I like to sit on the "stage" area over by IASW at night after fireworks, it's really nice there. The monorail does go by and blow it's horn but there are not many people so it's nice.

I second this! We went to Disneyland on our first date and we stood over by IASW for fireworks and were standing just under where the monorail goes by, gazing tenderly at one another when HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONK! HOOOOOOOOOONK! We both burst out laughing- it was really, really funny!

Have the "Flying Dutchman Cookie Boat" at the Blue Bayou (or two) and giggle like kids!

On weekend nights they have dancing to swing/jazz by the castle.

This might be a little obvious, but when my wife and I get away alone, I've found that the most romantic spot is the hotel room.

Married people, you know what I'm talking about! There is nothing like a hotel room to get the fires burning again, am I right? Who's with me on this??

On the other hand, if you are looking for a place that is romantic in a quiet, peaceful way, my recommendation is the hotel room immediately before and after bomp-chicka-wow-wow.

Do you mean inside Disneyland Park? Can't help you there, that place is pretty much a zoo.

At the risk of sounding sexist, and with all due respect to your gender, this is SUCH a guy post! Not because of the suggestion, but because of the execution.

You are absolutely right. There usually isn't much bow-chicka-wow-wow going on at home with the kiddos and....life. Might be just the time to get some much needed TLC. Although, I think someone suggested bushes. You know, if you're into that kinda thing....

Don't worry we have schedule lots of "hotel breaks" during our time away from the munchkins, but thanks for the thought. I think I will pass on the island though, dirt and sand and PDA's (public displays of affection) have never been on my to do list.

The waterfall/garden area at the Disneyland Hotel is really romantic at night...it's all lit up so beautifully, lot's of paths to wander and hardly anyone ever in there! it's just a short walk from the park...or you can take the monorail from Tomorrowland, get off in Downtown Disney just a minute away from the Hotel entrance, wander around, then take the monorail back to the park again.

Reading this one with much interest. We are staying at GC, without the kids, to celebrate our 7th anniversary. We are REALLY looking forward to it. Can't wait to ride whatever we want - and together (instead of one of us having to sit with youngest DS waiting for the other and older DS). Plus we get to schedule dinner as late as we want! We are also splurging for the Fantasmic dessert package. We haven't even broken the news to the kids that we are going to DL (we are going to San Fran for a work trip for me then driving down the coast and sightseeing and then ending up at DL) - they are going to be so mad!!!

As much fun as it was to visit the parks through the years with our kids.... we are really enjoying visiting on our own!
Melanie, do you have to tell them? can't you just tell them it's a trip without saying anything about Disneyland?
