HI!

I visited Paris,France last week. Just love everything there !! (palaces, beautiful streets, French food....)

For those travelled to Europe before, I would like to know , other than Venice & Paris, what city in Europe do you think it's the most romantic (and Why ?)

Let me know , we are thinking of our next destination ^_^

Thanks....

I happen to think New Orleans is a very romantic city in all the world :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: !
Wait it could be the Pat o's hurricanes that just put me in the romantic mood after a night out in the French Quarter.:thumbsup2

I was going to say New York, NY until I opened up your thread and saw you have limited it to European cities.

How about Venice? Its really romantic. Was there with my then-boyfriend, now husband, 22 years ago. Would love to go back.

I don't know, as long as I'm on a trip with my husband and there's a babysitter, just about anything is romantic!!!

Well, I really like Aix-en-provence, and Nice, both in France. *sigh* It was wonderful, even with my kids!!

Seville, Spain. 100%. I have travelled extensively through Europe and European cities and Seville wins, by far. Dubrovnik, Croatia is awesome as well.

Haven't done Europe but I think Montreal was very romantic. Also DH and I had our first few dates in NYC so that will always be romantic to me:love: I agree too about New Orleans, love it.

Prague! Such a beautiful city, although it can be packed with tourists. I want to go back to Karlovy Vary, a spa town, for a little romantic weekend (it's about 80 miles from Prague).

I should be nominating my own town, but as fab and beautiful as it is, Edinburgh weather ain't romantic!

For me it was Dubrovnik. Unfortunately, during the war alot of it was bombed into oblivion. If you can imagine a fairy tale city,Dubrovnik was it.

Venice, Vienna, Prague and Cyprus come to mind when thinking romantic.
Loved viewing your pictures!

Vienna is supposed to be just breathtaking in the summertime, my grandmother travelled all over Europe and said it was the prettiest city she had ever seen.

We loved Fussen and Rothenberg. Fussen has the advantage of being right next to Neuchwanstein, and is simply beautiful!! There is a really good musical about Ludwig that plays there, and the mountains are gorgeous!!!

Rotenberg (Rothenberg) is one of the best examples of a preserved medieval city left today. It was scheduled to be bombed by the US, but one of generals in charge just couldn't do it. His mother had visited Rothenberg in the 1920's painted pictures of it that hung in his house all of his childhood. So, the American general contacted the German general who was in charge of Rothenberg and "cut a deal". He promised the Allies would not bomb Rothenberg if the general would leave the city. So, the general left and the city was saved. It is pristinely beautiful!!

A runner-up for us would have to be Chamonix, France. It is almost "French-Colorado" in feel....but there is something really romantic about being at the base of Europe's highest point.

I guess I like things a little more "rustic" than "elegant".

I know you said besides Venice, Paris, - but I LOVE VENICE!
Also top picks would be NICE, & MONACO!
All 3 are faves, they're beautiful:cloud9:

Monaco/Monte Carlo :) Especially at night!

We loved Fussen and Rothenberg.
.

I would not really count either of these two places as "cities", they are more towns, however both are very beautiful! The correct spelling is "Rothenburg ob der Tauber". If you want to see medieval castles and towns, there is actually something called the Romantic Road which actually goes through both the places previously mentioned. It ends close to Munich, which is a fantastic city. However I do not think it is very "romatic". Also Nuremberg, the city where I live, just 1 hour by train from Munich (2 hours by car) is very beautiful. If you are interested in Germany/Bavaria, feel free to pm me for more info!

Otherwise I can recommend Vienna. I just spent a grey November weekend there and it was fantastic. Lots of castles to see and great cafes with incredible cakes!

One of my favourite places is Bath in England. I think it is very beutiful and romatic. You can just imagine the Jane Austen novels taking place there.

I love Venice too, but I also love Rome, Capri and Amalfi.....that's amore!!!!

Thanks for the spelling!!! We did take the Romantic Road, but we kept getting lost :rotfl: , so we re-named it the Frustrating Road and found our way to the autobahn.

It's funny how people's views of "romantic" differ...we found our two favorites to be MUCH more romantic than Paris :confused3 . And, nowhere near a hot island climate could ever be romantic to us.

We have never made it to Bath, although I can imagine they are amazing. I would LOVE to see them, and visit anywhere in the Cottswalds. I would think the thatched roof cottages were very romantic as well. Oh well, maybe another trip!!!
