I've been posting a lot of questions on this board lately, and I'm sure more are to come. I just wanted to take a second to thank everyone who responds. It's so very helpful! The DIS really is such a wonderful place :goodvibes

Now, on to my current question...

Of all the resorts you have stayed in, which do you think has the most relaxing atmosphere? Why?

Thanks again!

1. Lights are kind of dim so it gives it a relaxing feel.
2. Dark rich woods and decor make it cozy.
3. Lots of trees and plants very lush.
4. African music softly playing everywhere.
5. Love the smell of the cooking spices from Bomas.
6. At night the cozy fire pit and rocking chairs (glass of red wine optional)
7. Animals slowly walking around the Savannah munching on the things.
8. Just love this place no one seems to be in a big hurry!

Wilderness Lodge.

It's so relaxing to sit on your balcony and watch the boats on the lake (as well as ride in them, which is also relaxing). There are a couple cozy nooks on the upper floors, with fireplaces, that are great for sneaking away with a good book. You can rent a bike or walk through the woods to FW (if you're lucky, you'll see deer and other animals along the way). I have spent several long weekends there and never even gone to the parks.

If you want it extra quiet, stay at VWL. All the benefits of WL, but even more peaceful.

I would have to agree with the Wilderness Lodge. A few days there and you can tackle anything.....

I think it would be AKL for the ambiance and low lighting of the resort. The lobby is magnificent and smells heavenly. We enjoyed wandering around the lobby and sitting here and there. We were very relaxed while staying here.

IMO, it would be a toss-up among WL, AKL, and OKW! Each is relaxing in their own way. :thumbsup2

Old Key West gets my vote. I love to sit out on the huge balcony and drink coffee in the morning. It is so relaxing before the hustle and bustle of the day.

I have stayed at AKL,WL,GF,POR,FQ,YC,BW.....and the most relaxing to me is definitely AKL!!! Maybe it's the soothing music in the lobby, or maybe it's the strong frozen drinks by the pool:goodvibes

Polynesian gets my vote for most relaxing. There's just something about that tropical feel that gets you in a relaxed mode. While I love YC and GF they seem more lively to me.

POR gets my vote.

We like the peaceful and beautiful landscaping, and its ideal for leisurely walks to nowhere. It always seems quiet to us and with a number of pools to choose from, you can always find a nice quiet area to swim. It's a nice respite after spending your day in the parks with people everywhere you turn.

Serene, peaceful, and relaxing.

the Poly, something about the tiki torches lit up at nite and the tropical atmosphere.

I'm with you there 110%! Plus, the rooms are so much larger than the WL or AKL and you simply have to hop on the monorail if you want to have dinner at, or simply enjoy, another resort. No driving and no bus transfers required, and easy access to MK and Epcot.

My picks would be - in this order
OKW - loved sitting on the patio at 6am watching the ducks and bunnies while I enjoyed my tea
WL - love sitting in the lobby in front of the fireplace and on the balcony with my tea looking out over the woods
SSR - again loved sitting on the balcony watching the boats go by and the happenings at DTD.

POR - On our recent Easter week trip I spent a very quiet morning by the pool, listening to the birds, reading the paper and doing laundry. If only I could be so relaxed at home.........doing laundry. :thumbsup2

My vote is for WL also. I stayed there for 7 days shortly after 9/11/01 and was able to completely relax, it was magical. My fav spot is the boat dock at sunrise, but don't go there when I am, I like the place to myself;)

My vote is AKL, hands down! We've been to WDW several times and although we've enjoyed all the resorts, we usually spend most of our time at the parks. Once we stepped into the AKL lobby we were inspired to spend time at the resort and enjoy the atmosphere. Our room overlooked the pool and each morning, I slightly opened the balcony door so my family could slowly wake up to the music.

Good luck with your decision ~ I don't think there's a bad choice ~ it's disney!
