Most Overrated things people rave about at WDW

Illuminations...I don't get the whole projections on the globe part
Finding Nemo Musical..went once, hated it. Gave it a second chance...still hated it
Disney Dining Plan...why do people think this is a money saver??
Turkey Legs....yuck. We are not cavemen!

In no particular order:

Port Orleans French Quarter - It looks like the Mardi Gras section of Walmart vomited all over a cheap motel.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Agreed!!! :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

- Unless you are eating the most expensive thing on the menu at some of the most expensive restaurants, you are spending more for the dining plan than you would to just pay out of pocket. I also don't get the "but it's all paid for ahead of time" argument. So what? You're still spending that money. At least without the dining plan, I know I will be spending exactly what my food costs and not trying to figure out if snack is a good value or deciding I should buy some meal I don't want just to justify the cost of the dining plan. And don't get me started on the idea of using two credits for signature dining.

Spot on!!!

LOL yes it is strong I guess. We had trouble at check in (room not ready at 10:30p) and CM was obviously tired and over it. Hey so was I heh. Our bags were sent to FQ by accident, not sure whose fault that really was. We had a stinky fridge filled with mildew, which I had to call about at 11:30 when we finally got to the room. Mousekeeping was better after all that, though.

Then we had issues at check out and almost missed our ME bus because they forgot to give us the info packet.

We felt very isolated way in the back, but one positive was our room was close to the south depot.

Overall it just didn't give us the Disney feel we realized we wanted. There are so many other resorts, so we will cross it off our list permanently.

Food court was a bit chaotic, too, but I loved the pasta :D
Was it your first time what's your favorite? Sounds like you don't like a moderate resort.

What about the most inconsistent? CRT gets my vote.

We have young daughters so have grabbed a few last minute reservations the last couple of years. Sometimes it is beyond fabulous - a seat by the window watching the fireworks, princesses stop by and chat with our daughters, server is friendly and food is good. Next visit - shoved in the corner, princesses doing the half marathon around the room, woman with a clip board yelling at the princesses that they missed your table, server doesn't speak english and food inedible (same menu from last time).

Crazy how different each visit can be...

I know this will seem odd, but our last trip we all 4 agreed (DH, myself, DS11 and DS6) that Magic Kingdom was kind of overrated.
I know, I know, please don't slam me ;)
It might be because it was so much more crowded that trip than the other parks. Also the lack of good places to eat. And that new dance party thing was just so annoying and seemed to be going on every time we went near that area.
Maybe overrated is strong, but we did agree it was our least favorite of all the parks and disney springs.

You're being facetious, right?

Anywho, for me:
Zebra domes (they're good, but not earth shattering or something I'd want to eat every day)
Turkey legs (I tasted the hubs' and the ham taste weirded me out)
Mickey ice cream bars/sandwiches (I love Mickey shaped things as much as the next Disney addict but the taste is just meh)

And that's about all I can think of.

I do find the parks overrated. We do resort/DS only vacations because, after so many vacations, the parks are stale. Very little has changed since we became die hards back in 1999. There is no way I will pay $100+ to go into a park to do the same thing I have done over and over and over again.

However, we love the “bubble” of WDW…so we stay at a WDW resort, use those amenities. We use the amenities at other resorts, and we enjoy DS/Boardwalk...bowling, boat rides, mini golf, swimming, dining, people watching, bars, child care, etc. It's a cheap vacation - resort and meals and some spending cash (we don't do souvenirs). We typically have free airline miles...so, it's easy for us to get away almost spur of the moment because the price is reasonable.

When the parks start getting their makeovers done…looking at you, AK and HS, we will spend the money once again. But, Epcot has been the same forever and Magic Kingdom…meh.

I will admit, we do love AK and if it was not ridiculous to get in, we would probably do a 1 day there in June.

My BFF is planning her first trip to WDW and looked to me for help and I said “I cannot recommend the parks…sorry, you are on your own”. Witchy, yep. But, it’s how I feel.
I have to agree. I think that right now the 4 WDW parks are over rated. 1.)Animal Kingdom has a gaping construction hole in the middle of it for Avatar Land. 2.)Epcot is just in a sad state. It was an amazing park to visit back in the 80's. Disney closed Horizons and Wonders of Life, ruined Imagination and the Living Seas, and let the World Showcase go stale. 3.)Disney Studios is 40% shutdown for StarWars Land and Pixar. 4.)Magic Kingdom is insanely busy because of the lack of things to do at the other 3 parks. There are certainly some interesting and exciting things on the distant horizon at WDW, but right now the parks are somewhat subpar.

Definitely turkey legs. To me it's just a big hunk of gristle that tastes more like ham than turkey.
I think Illuminations because it has remained unchanged for so many years. We saw it for the Millennium celebration and now we are in 2016! Time for an update.

I don't have a favorite resort. As for moderates, this was our first stay there. We stayed at POP on the same trip and it was awesome there. My only complaint on that hotel was the bed was not as comfy as I would like.

Ooo tell me why you liked POP so much? We're trying to check out all the Disney hotels. But I'm actually a fan of POR and POFQ.

Soarin... It's ok? I read a while back that it's closed during our next trip (remodel), and my reaction was simply "Oh, ok". It would make no difference to me if it was there or not.

Tsum Tsum/vinylmation - They charge way too much for those little things...

Also... just the thought of Avatarland... why? How old is that movie and/or is there a new one coming out? Hopefully it will be fun!

Zebra domes (and Boma in general) - just okay.
Soarin - meh, but could be better with a new film with more interesting content.
Le Cellier - back in the early 2000s before it became a signature restaurant - we were underwhelmed
Fantasmic - it's a great way for kids to see all the characters in one go. I think we were underwhelmed because there were technical issues with the show the night we saw it
BOG dinner - the food was really very average

The theming was awesome! CMs were so happy and helpful. The lifeguard was great with my DD5. We walked to AoA for dinner and a little tour. We just really enjoyed it.
