Most Luxurious Resort in Disney World

Well "luxury" is a very subjective term, but I would have to pick GF as well. Please bear in mind though that there is no truly "luxurious" resort at WDW, I would call them more "luxury -light". ;)

Love this...

Sadly only their rates are "luxury"

But GF is definitely marketed as their luxury hotel and is supported by some great dining options on site as well

3rd that opinion
Op, if you are comparing to what is normally considered luxury. Disney doesnt have one. But if you were asking about onsite venues, for me it would probably be Yacht club but I havent stayed at the AKL yet.

Oh this is just so wrong on so many levels. Please don't be so quick to judge someone by the way they dress. Just because someone wears a Metallica t-shirt, (my DS13) NFL jersey (my DH) or what ever it maybe does not make them any less deserving of staying or visiting the GF.

I so agree with you on this. :thumbsup2

Again, I apparently struck a nerve here. I don't care what you wear, or why you wear it. In fact, I get a kick out out of the families that where team jerseys at the same time. I think the Steelers hold the record for most jerseys spotted on one trip.

The point I was trying to make is, that being advertised as "the" resort at WDW, I am surprised by the dress of some of the guests there; just as I would be surprised by their dress at a five-star hotel, an upscale restaurant, a wedding, etc.

When I see a guy in a faded Dale Jr. tank top with ripped-up cutoffs, who hasn't shaved in several days sitting down for dinner at Victoria & Alberts, sorry I'm a bit surprised, and think that is inappropriate dress. Would you want someone like that showing up at your daughter's wedding? I doubt it.

I don't stay at GF. It's beautiful, but not my taste. How someone chooses to dress there is their business. There is just a time and a place for everything.

:)Another vote for the GF. We stayed there one time and enjoyed it, however, when not staying at our DVC resort we prefer either the BWI or the YC. We love the Epcot/HS location.

First off Go Steelers.:thumbsup2 I do understand what you are staying about there is a time and a place for everything and I highly doubt that the person wearing the cut off shorts would even get down the hall to Victoria and Alberts.:lmao:

However, to me your post came off the wrong way. Believe me I am not playing the poor me card but I grew up very poor and was judge by what little we had to wear. So when I see a post such as yours, yes, it does strike a nerve.

But I do get what you are saying.:flower3:

Funny you should comment about feeling under-dressed at GF. I've seen a number of guests there that I'm surprised could afford a Motel 6 on A1A. NASCAR tank tops, Metallica t-shirts, NFL jerseys, old gym shorts, cut-offs with holes in them, etc.

I realize everyone has a "right" to dress as they wish, but come on now. I'm all for dressing comfortable and casually, but I think some folks take it to the extreme. Wearing something to hit the parks is one thing, hanging out in the lobby, or having a nice dinner is something else.

Oooh, I know some folks aren't going to be happy with that. Sorry.

That is exactly the attitude that many people find the GF too stuffy and uptight. Those people that weren't dressed up to your standards could of been filty rich:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

GF based on location, ambience, room appointments and amenities, etc. Beds are extremely comfortable and high quality. At least in GF RPC, bed linens are changed every day. GF has highest quality H2O products (the other deluxes have a lower grade of H2O).

Having said that, GF -- as others have said -- does not begin to compare with real luxury resorts at the GF price point. GF service, in our experience, generally has been only so so. Housekeeping leaves much to be desired. I agree that the rooms are pretty small with a lack of storage space (with two adults and two kids, I ended up having to put my clothes in the bedside nightstand with the phone book!). The bathroom -- while larger and nicer than others on property, is nothing compared to the marble palaces at other resorts at the price point.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the Four Seasons opens its planned resort as GF isn't even in the ball park with those hotels.

If you want the most luxurious room and not the resort it would be the presidential suite at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.
I didnt even know that such a room exist...but happy to hear that it's at AKL because I feel much more comfortable here than I ever feel at the Grand Floridian:rolleyes1

popcorn:: I mean I have these same random human rational thoughts and I suppose everyone has the right to have feelings:rolleyes1:happytv:

My apologies as I certainly did not mean to upset or offend you. I hope we are on the same page now. I couldn't care less about what someone wears, within reason; as long as they show just a hint of common courtesy and respect for the people around them and WDW (litterbugs should be escorted out of the park!).

It's not a question of who's poor or who's rich, and I fall to the lower side of the middle of that scale. If you were to take a look at the WDW website and take the tour of the GF, it is obvious they are trying to provoke an image of elegance. The message is much different from the other resorts.

While the resort itself is beautiful and the most luxurious of the bunch, it's really just another WDW resort with a bunch of normal folks running around; a clientel not much different from the All Stars, POR, CBR, etc.

Everyone has their favorite resort; mine is WL. No one needs to justify their preference. My only question in my simple mind is - other than the monorail station, what justifies the significant difference in price compared to other resorts? What's fun about it? For somewhat similar money, my choice would be the Poly, but that's my personal opinion. Yours and a lot of other people's is different, and I certainly respect that.

The great thing about WDW is that you can have a significantly different vacation within the same relatively small patch of ground in central Florida. Memories are made based on personal experiences which in turn tend to steer each of us to a particular property.

There is no right or wrong choice.

I hope your next stay is the best ever! :thumbsup2

For the record I get what your are saying. I didn't take your post quite as hard as others. :thumbsup2

To OP I would have to go with the Grand Floridian too. We have stayed at all levels but the GF did offer some things the others did not.... obviously the location. We loved the location and we even loved the food court. Their food was yummy and I loved the open feel of the place. I didn't feel one bit out of place in my shorts and Mickey t-shirts and my kids loved the GF so everyone has their own impressions of things. Some people think of GF as luxury, some people think of WL or Poly as the same. But based on the prices the Disney people feel that GF is their top tier.

No need to apologize as I shouldn't have read into it more than I did. I let my feelings take control sometimes and then the anger starts. We are definitely on the same page as I feel the same way. What someone wants to wear is their business but like you said there is a place and time for everything. Ok don't get me start on the litterbugs.:lmao:

Although we do love the GF and it will forever hold a special place in our hearts, we truly love the YC.:rolleyes1 Like you, our friends absolutely love the Poly and would not think of staying anywhere's else. The Poly is nice but not our cup of tea.

This is why we love Disney so much as there are so many choices for everyone.

No hard feelings at all. I have to not let my temper run away with me sometimes.:flower3:

Oooh how correct you are. I love how people can be so quick to judge.

Let's see, I have worn a Metallica Tsirt around the GF. I believe I was wearing my Buffalo Bills Jersey when we checked in. Since our room wasn't ready should I have changed into my suit and tie to wait in the lobby?

How someone dresses doesn't equate as to what they make.

Also ANYONE can stay at the GF. Not just rich people who dress nice.

Apropos of nothing, but...

GO BILLS!!! :yay::cheer2:

Well hello from a fello Buffalo person! Did you catch the TO Show? I thought it was your average reality tv show. Now all we need is a good quarterback and maybe we will actually make the playoffs this year.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I didn't catch the show, but I heard it was pretty funny. It'll be interesting to see how the season goes!

I have a funny GF story from the summer of 2006. We took the kids there for the pirate cruise. We decided to have breakfast at the GF Cafe while the kids were sailing the Seven Seas Lagoon. (BTW, the GF Cafe is pretty reasonably priced.)

Soon after we were seated, a family of three was seated nearby. All three of them took their shoes off and put their feet up on the seats! Perhaps it was a cultural thing, but I had to look at the dirty bottom of their feet while eating my breakfast! Yucky!

I have stayed at the GF before ( a long, long time ago ) on the concierge floor. It was very nice, probably the nicest place I have stayed. The only room that came close for me was a suite we had at the Waldorf + Astoria in NYC. I would call it luxury, but that may have been because of the "extras" associated with the concierge level.

As far as dress goes, who cares? We're all on vacation! The places that don't allow that kind of dress (Victoria and Albert's, Narccoossee's, etc.) will turn people away if need be. I wear a band T too... The Beatles. And I bought it at Epcot.

:flower3:

Yes, I hope they go alright, go all the way to last in the division. :rotfl2: But as long as my Browns are in the same division I don't think a Steeler fan will have to worry about that. :sad2: I was in WDW this past January during Superbowl week and I have to admit it sure took the fun out of it with all those #7 Steeler jerseys in the Kingdom. LOL

I would have to say the GF is the most luxurious(Yacht Club is very nice as well). As with others, I use the term very loosly when it comes to WDW hotels and luxury; there's a big difference in impressive looking lobbys and neat pools and what are called luxurious hotels. I would also call them "light" luxury as another op stated.

Well, I would have said the GF - I stayed there in 2007 and it was beautiful, particularly staying in the main building (RPC), but, having stayed at the BWI in May this year following it's refurbishment I'm torn between the 2.

The new rooms at the BWI are beautiful (very classy), and as it's a smaller resort than the GF I felt it had a more 'exclusive' feel, the polished wooden floors and various furnishings all added to the experience.

I AGREE! My dad was wearing his hunting club shirt and Cabela's shoes when we arrived in Sugar Loaf. Some people, glanced over, but that was all. I did notice a family who seemed over dressed in yacht club-ish clothes (not the resort, but an actual boat place). They had fancy dress shoes on and their shirts were tucked in to their ironed khaki's. I mean wear what you like, but they could have relaxed since it is SO humid, they may ruin their clothes if it's dry clean only hahaha!

But back to the original point; Grand Floridian is as luxurious as you can get and you will find many affluent, and sometimes snoody people staying there since it is the best.
