Most Expensive / Moist Exhausting Continued - Final thoughts and wrap-up

Now, that's a reality show I might actually watch. :happytv:

I would too, but we'd have to spice it up a bit....like one of them gets voted out or something.

I'll take that as a compliment! :rotfl:

You should!

Yes!! And I loved Flight to the Moon!!! We always went on that one since it was one of my mom's favorites too.Mr. Tom was the "co-host" that interacted with a real CM. He kinda reminds me of C3PO from Star Tours a little. But my all-time favorite was next door- Adventure Through Inner Space. I liked the queue where they made it look like the people in the ride-mobiles were actually gettingn smaller! How cool is that??!

Not being a DL vet (I was there when I was 4 1/2), I don't know these references.

Oh, I like that idea a lot!!! It would mean we are actually THERE, together!! The reality is that we would probably be giggling, holding up our arms in mock thrill, and trying to get that perfect feet picture. ;)

Are you trolling for a joke about arm flab or hairy feet? 'Cause I'm not biting.

:rotfl2:

i just knew someone would say it.
:sad2:

I didn't want to let you down.

Wow....we're already near the end...

A couple more chapters. Guess I need to get to writing.

Glenn, I just wanna say that I LOVED following along with your TR and all the antics of everyone here! I'm sad to see this end, but am looking forward to the next one already!

Thank you Yuki!

I'm also really surprised you've never been on the TTA either! After all those trips too.

I know, well at least I got it remedied before I admitted it!

A groan's almost as good as a guffaw! Glad you liked it.

What is REALITY!!!!:confused3:rotfl2::rotfl2:Isn't it arm flab and hairy feet!!!!:confused3:rotfl2:As for who wood get kicked out mmmmmm let me think !!! Wood it be King Spoon, or Dangerous Dan , mmm there is also Teetering Tim, and Gleeful Glen !!!:lmao:

Ok. Fine. But if I'm the one voted out, then I'll take my groupies to La Cava; margs on me! And I'll wag my arm flab around in a toast to you. Then I'll shake a hairy toe at you.

See if you can You Tube a run through of Adventure Through Inner Space. I can't, but wonder if one's out there. I think you'd like it. :goodvibes

What is REALITY!!!!:confused3:rotfl2::rotfl2:Isn't it arm flab and hairy feet!!!!:confused3:rotfl2:

Well, at least part of that is reality, Rosie. :rolleyes1

Reality is the state of things as they actually exist, rather than as they may appear or may be thought to be. (Thank you, Wikipedia.)

Nice names for us guys.

Okay, wiping off monitor now!!! :rotfl2:

:yay:

Exactly! :rolleyes1
I thought this immediately when I read your comments the other day! Unfortunately I didn't get back in time to beat Glenn to the punch on this one!!!

Well, I knew that one of us had to get it in.

Ok. Fine. But if I'm the one voted out, then I'll take my groupies to La Cava; margs on me! And I'll wag my arm flab around in a toast to you. Then I'll shake a hairy toe at you.

Fair enough, but can I get a margarita too?

I'll have to look.

Well, at least part of that is reality, Rosie. :rolleyes1

We're all wondering which part.

joining in lots of fun

Hey mickeymouse108!! :welcome:

Thanks for joining in! Yes, we do try to have fun here...jump right in!

:rotfl2: A margarita, particularly at La Cava, sounds great right about now!

Checking in from work !! Only another hour to go !!! The natives are mostly in bed and sleeping and tonight was much calmer !!No Bricks Lysol or other weopond brandished !!:rotfl2:

Hey Glenn! We just decided late tonight that we are going to make a day trip in June and take my nephews to the Star Wars Weekend. My oldest nephew, who is 9, is a Star Wars nut. Do you have any tips, tricks, suggestions? I just went back and re-read your reviews. We plan on going on June 4th which is a Saturday.

Also, I don't know if you remember me telling that I was possibly going to get an SLR from my friend. The one that takes horrible pictures (remember the giraffe picture I posted), well I got the camera! :cool1: I'm so excited!! They have this little Japanese Garden close to where I live in Boca Raton so i'm going to go there and practice with my new camera soon!

I hope you have an update for us soon. I come here and check everyday, even when it's almost 2am (or maybe the only reason I am awake is because my stupid AC is frozen and it's too hot for me to sleep). I guess it's the price I pay for living in Fort Lauderdale. :rotfl2:

Just read your entire part II trip report. We loved the Hoop De Doo too but I will say I paid the extra money for the photo. We had other family members meet us from two other states for that trip. Would love to see the show again but closer. We were in the last row of seats but still could see everything.

I couldn't agree more!

:yay: for calm. No weapons branished here today either. (Not that that's a common occurrence. )

:woohoo: That's awesome! I wish I lived close enough that I could do a day trip.

Hmmm, tips. Most of them you can probably glean from the trip report, but if he wants to get autographs, get there super-early in order to get a ticket (remember my "Into the garbage chute, fastpass boy" chapter?).

I think you may have to get a ticket in order to do the Jedi Training Academy now too. You should probably check some other threads or post a question somewhere regarding that, if he wants to do it.

My favorite thing was Hyperspace Hoopla, but what an ordeal! We had to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone else in the crowd for an hour and a half or so. Then, my daughters who are shorter than me naturally, couldn't see well over the crowd. I wonder if it's still a good show if you stand further back? I don't know -- you'll have to gauge that one, but like I said, it was my favorite thing from Star Wars Weekends.

Of course I remember! That's great! Hopefully, you got the manual too. Read it cover-to-cover 2 or 3 times, and practice the various settings as you go. I hope I get to see some of your shots soon.

Why, yes....I do have an update coming soon. :)

Frozen AC is no fun.

Hi Laura! We've missed you! Thanks for reading Part II.

Our Hoop picture was really good, and I might have thought about buying it any other time, so I can't blame you.

I looked at the seating chart a while back and was surprised to realize that that upper price tier is pretty much the whole floor. We really lucked-out, getting so close to the stage.

Day 9 - Part 1

Our last day. Magical Express, or “Depress” as I’ve heard it appropriately called for this leg of the trip, was due to pick us up at 2. Technically, it was feasible to get up for rope drop, enjoy a morning at one of the parks, and easily be back at the resort in time for Magical Express. But realistically, we were whooped, and it was an easy call to sleep-in a little, take our time packing, and just enjoy a more relaxed morning. Either Judy or I were the first up, and after getting dressed we started working on finishing up whatever breakfast items we had.

At 8:30 I started some laundry. :laundy: I don’t really remember why I felt like I had to do laundry then. Probably the kids were still lounging in bed and I figured I might as well make good use of the time. Plus, who wants to pack dirty clothes? That’s one of the beauties of staying in a DVC suite, and we’d been too busy to take advantage of the washer and dryer up to this point.

Finally, the kids started getting up and showering and having breakfast. At one point a little while later, while I was in the master bedroom packing, Judy got them together and they all came in to present me with my Father’s Day gift. I had completely forgotten that Father’s Day would occur on the last day of our trip. (I didn’t mind a bit…being at Disney for a whole week, every day had felt like Father’s Day.) Anyway, they gave me a new Disney t-shirt. It was a dark blue shirt, with the four Disney World parks on it, with Mickey Mouse in the middle. I wore it to the big “D.C. Meet” later that summer, and you can catch a glimpse of it in some pictures in this side-chapter link from earlier in the trip report. So, anyway…thaaat’s what Judy had been shopping for in the Emporium the night before when I was a little irritated that she wasn’t with us out on Main Street waiting for the fireworks to begin. Hee hee. :scared:

She also knew that I liked the rainfall showerhead that they have in the suites at Kidani, so she’d looked in the gift shop, Johari Treasures, where they sell them. (Must be I’m not the only one who likes them.) But they were really expensive, so she told me that she’d look for one at home. She did buy one after we got back, it’s probably a different brand, but it works pretty well. And best of all, she installed it herself!

Okay, back to the trip. We put the wet clothes from the washer into the dryer, and another load into the washing machine. I know, it’s details like this that separate this trip report from all others.

The morning wore on, and where earlier it seemed like we had all kinds of time, now it was looking like we’d need to pick up the pace just to get out of here by check-out time. This is when we discovered that the dryer wasn’t working very well. I mean, it worked, it just didn’t, um, dry. We packed up all of the stuff that we could, and got the second load of clothes in the dryer. Judy went around trying to find places to pack any leftover food that could be taken back home. James’ duffel had the most room, and I think I mentioned in some of the chatter on this trip report that we discovered some beat-up cereal bars in his duffel bag months after returning home. I guess he assumed that she’d unpack them as well.

I forgot to mention earlier that when we checked-in we discovered that the previous occupants had left a couple of bottles of beer in the fridge. I may have drank one, but I know that I left at least one for the next occupants. Kind of like missing Wishes, I just never found a good opportunity to consume them.

Finally the clothes were dry, and we were fully-packed. We hauled our stuff out the door just a little bit before 11. The housekeeping ladies had been hovering around and were eagerly waiting to get at our room. We lugged all of our bags down to the lobby and I checked-out. Then we handed our bags over to the Bell Services people.

Now, our plan was to enjoy the pool for a couple of hours. We were already in our bathing suits, and we had a couple of bags with our change of clothes in them. We got about halfway to the pool when Marlene noticed James carrying his mug and said, “Oh no! My mug is packed in my bag!” So, back to Bell Services we went, (well, just Marlene and I; the others continued on) so that she could retrieve her mug out of the bag.

Okay, now we were finally relaxing by the pool. I put “relapse” in the chapter title just because that’s something I like to say: “sit back, and relapse”.

How about some pool photos? Here's Marlene trying to go down the slide without getting her face wet, apparently.

Judy, not on the slide. Just relapsing.

IMG_4173.jpg

I love this bridge. It's such a nice focal point for the pool.

IMG_4174.jpg

I walked over to the animal watching area behind the pool bar. I'd hoped to see a red river hog. No luck, but there was this bird.

IMG_4176.jpg

And some other critter.

IMG_4178.jpg

And another bird.

IMG_4179.jpg

When I came back, I saw that James found some foosball competition. Or, at least some people to play against. I'm not sure that they were what you'd call "competition". Not for James anyway.

While writing this chapter, James walked by and I asked him if he beat these people and he said, "Oh yeah. Creamed 'em."

Another shot of the pool. Okay, I'll be nice this time for all of you Judy-sighters. I already looked at this in magnified-view :magnify: and I can't find her in it.

IMG_4184.jpg

Back in 2009 when Kidani was only partially completed, a lot of people on the Disboards worried that this pool would be too small when all of the rooms were open. But when we were there in 2010, it always looked like you see it in this picture -- in use, but definitely not over-crowded.

And one last shot of the water tower in the water play area.

IMG_4186.jpg

Now that I had some photo documentation completed, I was able to get in the pool and then lounge in a chair for a while. It was heavenly. I wrote in my trip notes that I loved the peaceful music and bird noises that are piped-in. It was so peaceful.

Thanks. I'll do some snooping around. I haven't been on the DIS much lately and so when I decided to go the first thing I told the ol' BF about was your TR and I showed him your day at Hollywood Studios. I then had to tell him about the rockin' phone call at Epcot! :rotfl:

Gosh..I hope all 5'1" of me will be able to see the hyperspace hoopla. Especially when trying to hold a wiggly toddler that weights almost as much as me. :rotfl2:

I think i'm going to dread this after it is all said and done. Me, a tween, a first grader, a toddler in the sweltering heat watching characters I know nothing about. :lmao:

Of course I remember! That's great! Hopefully, you got the manual too. Read it cover-to-cover 2 or 3 times, and practice the various settings as you go. I hope I get to see some of your shots soon.

Sure, I'll link you to my blog once I post some pictures.

ahhhh....the pool relapsing time looked great!!!

I also think that pool would be great place to unwind after a great vacation at the WDW....

you should have had Judy take a few pics of you going down the slide..you know you went down a few times!!

:lmao:

Nice relapsing morning. It sure made me feel relapsed just reading it. I'm not much a water person but Creighton sure does like to "swinnnnnnnnnnnnn" and play in the "wa wa". I wanted to go over to the water play area when we stayed there in March but we never made it.

James’ duffel had the most room, and I think I mentioned in some of the chatter on this trip report that we discovered some beat-up cereal bars in his duffel bag months after returning home. I guess he assumed that she’d unpack them as well.

We did the same thing when we went in '08 at the BC and got upgraded to concierge for free. I figured it was free Sam Adams so why not leave for the next person.

Marlene noticed James carrying his mug and said, “Oh no! My mug is packed in my bag!” So, back to Bell Services we went, (well, just Marlene and I; the others continued on) so that she could retrieve her mug out of the bag.

I noticed that while I was Judy hunting.

Her hair is already wet, so..... Maybe it was the lack of goggles that kept her from going under?

And James on the slide. My favorite is the 3rd one down.

Great Form :thumbsup2

D'oh

I like this one too! A very common sight.:lmao:

Judy, not on the slide. Just relapsing.

Of course now I go back to read and find the disclaimer. :headache: But I agree.
