Day 8 - Part 6
So, when we last left-off, wed spent a great late-morning/early-afternoon touring the World Showcase, gotten really hot, and were returning to our resort.
I should have mentioned in the last chapter, that we did stop in the Mexican Pavilion to look for some earrings, so I guess Judy wasnt
too hot. Shes not going to let a little case of potential heat exhaustion get in the way of shopping. Actually, she had a mission. She had seen a green-stone bracelet in the gift shop when we were there a few days earlier and wondered if it would match some earrings she had. On this day, she had brought one of the earrings with her to compare it to the bracelet. They didnt match, so no bracelet purchase. Lauren, however, did buy a couple of maracas, one for her and one as a gift for a friend.
At about 4 oclock we were back at Kidani. I took a picture of the covered walkway to the bus stop for all of you Kidani lovers out there. It was added after our trip in 2009.
As soon as we walked into the building I could see an Ankole cattle on the savanna. (if theres one, is it an Ankole cow? I guess so, but it sounds too much like holy cow.)
Then we went up to our suite and enjoyed watching the animals from our balcony for about twenty minutes.
Does this next picture look like a zebra-unicorn to you?
These next guys are Roan Antelope. Not to be confused with Rowan and Martin.
(Hey, what other trip report has Laugh In references?)
At 4:30, we went to the pool. We didnt have a lot of time before we needed to get ready for dinner, but we at least had enough to get cooled off. I had to take a few pictures of one of my favorite spots in the World to relax.
Now that youve pored through those looking for Judy-sightings, I can tell you that she didnt go with us to the pool. She stayed back in the room, resting in the air conditioning. But Im sure you had fun examining them thoroughly. Hee hee hee. (Sorry. Was that mean of me?)
I left the pool a little bit before 5:00 because I had some business to attend to at the front desk. On my way to the pool earlier, I had asked at the front desk if they could do our Southwest on-line check-in for me and they said they could, but Id have to be there, obviously. I got there a little early, so while I waited I took this picture of a wall of artifacts they have in the library. It seems like they put the art in artifacts.
Precisely at 5 oclock the front desk cast member did the on-line check in for me and it was a breeze. I probably shouldnt advertise this, since Im not sure if theyre supposed to (I look at it as similar to concierge help, but maybe theyre supposed to stick to Disney-related business?), but it was a
huge help. We got boarding numbers in the A group, which meant that we should easily find seats together on tomorrows flight. I really appreciated that she did this for me.
Then I went back to the pool in order to round up the kids so we could change our clothes for dinner. We had reservations for Hoop de Doo at 7:15 and I wanted to catch a bus at 5:30 to start our trip to Fort Wilderness. I must have gotten ready before everyone else because I started taking animal pictures again. I think that these pictures were taken from one of the observation areas near the lobby.
Sorry that this update wasnt all that exciting, but the title should have warned you
The Calm before the Hoop.
Up next: Hoop -- There it is!
