Most Expensive / Moist Exhausting Continued - Final thoughts and wrap-up

:rotfl2::worship: Perfect!!!!!! What a perfect person to pick up the phone and his reaction is priceless! That seriously made my morning. Love It!

(and I am sneaking a peak at work and I have to confess that my new computer screen is just spectacular makin your pictures look even more awesome!)

Thanks for the laugh! I really enjoyed your phone conversation update. It great that you got someone who would play along.

I can't believe you didn't get James to pose in front of the fountain. He hasn't questioned you yet on the crazy things you asked him to do so far.

Naturally, shopping was a major attraction to the ladies in my family so somehow we immediately drifted into the bazaar.

IMG_3964.jpg

I love the atmosphere in this picture. I wish I'd been able to take more time to explore the WS on my last trip to see spots like this...we were trying to finish spy missions! I guess I'll just have to go back.

And walked over and picked it up. My kids got all giddy and started jumping around. :yay:

At last! :woohoo:

Me: “Hey, are you paying for this call?”

Guy: “No, you called me!”

Me: “Oh no, this is going to be expensive.”

And at that point I was just going to hang up and keep it our joke, but Marlene wanted to have a big “reveal” moment, so she begged me for the phone.

Me: “Hold on. Someone here wants to talk to you.”

<I hand the phone to Marlene>

Marlene: “Um, look over by the fountain.”

Guy: “HA!!!”

<hangs up>

“Oh, well played! Well played, sir!”

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

That is hilarious! I'm glad you finally found someone to play along. Nice job documenting it, too! :thumbsup2

Everyone loves a fez. Careful James, you’ll get fez head.

If we stopped to think about how many heads have tried these on, we probably wouldn't do it ourselves. But like you said, you can't resist the fez.

I stopped to take a picture of this Moroccan alleyway. When I started to take the picture, it was empty, like you see it. But of course, people started wandering through. It took a minute or two of waiting before I could get a picture of it empty and serene like this.

IMG_3974.jpg

Another awesome shot.

Glenn, do you do any post-processing to your photos before you post them here? I just started doing it on mine where they looked a little washed out from the Florida sun, and I'm kicking myself for not having tried it before writing my TR. :rotfl2:

OMG (an expression I always thought I'd never use, but hey, sometimes it just fits), that phone call was awesome! Glad you finally caught someone willing to have a little out-of-the-blue Disney fun.

I love Marlene's poses! What a cutie-pie (wait, sorry, are tweens too old to be called cutie-pies? :goodvibes)

That's great you got a successful pay phone call in! :cool1: Sounds like they were pretty good sports about it too, and you even got to have a "smile, you're on candid..or glennbo's..camera!" moment! I totally agree with that guy's logic too, when you're in Disney, you do have to pick up ringing phones and peek in every little corner, never know what you might miss! (or who's trip report you may end up on!)

DBF had bought one of the fez'es (I have no idea how to pluralize fez) for his brother in law while we were there. It was pretty funny, the guy wrapped it in probably around 30 feet of that paper wrapping stuff. I'm not even exaggerating, we had to unwrap most of it to get it to fit into our luggage so we could take it home, and it just kept going and going and going. All that to protect a hat! :rotfl:

Yeah for finally getting someone to answer the phone!! Thanks to you I now have all three numbers programmed on my cell and look forward to using them this fall.

The one night I called it an early night and I miss an update. That will teach me.:sad2: I see the one Judy and the Mickey pointing to her.:)

That's okay, you need an early night every now and then.

It was another "edge of the picture" Judy...I can't believe how many of those I've had!

The phone call worked out real well this time. That made all the attempts and effort worth it.

I guess I was naive in that this type of a call was what I expected it to be like from the first attempt. I was surprised that it took so many tries before we got an interaction like this. I guess you do need to find the right person.

Trying this from my phone so I am curious how it will post. Hey it looks pretty good emoticons and all.

It does! I've only successfully posted from my phone once or twice. The one time I tried to include an emoticon by clicking on the smiley (as opposed to just typing something like semicolon-right parenthesis) I lost the whole post, so I won't do that again. At least until I get a better phone.

I have been following along in lurk mode, so you didn't lose this reader!

Oh good!

A couple weeks ago I had my first successful Epcot pay phone conversation. The gent was having a great day and traveling with a group. At the end of the chat he asked where I was and asked if he could visit. :confused3 I sort of froze and then said I was in Maryland, and he was "welcome any time!"
I am not sure how my husband would feel about that! But no one has turned up at our door, so I think I am in the clear.

Just a hunch, but I suspect that your husband would be slightly freaked-out by that. :scared1: Hopefully, you weren't any more specific than "Maryland".

Keep those updates coming!

You're a slavedriver Gumdrop!

:rotfl2::worship: Perfect!!!!!! What a perfect person to pick up the phone and his reaction is priceless! That seriously made my morning. Love It!

He was a great sport and his wife loved it too. He was the perfect person to call. I'm glad you enjoyed reading about it.

(and I am sneaking a peak at work and I have to confess that my new computer screen is just spectacular makin your pictures look even more awesome!)

Cool! Good for you that you've got a new monitor. :surfweb:

I think my pictures are going a little downhill as we get toward the end of the trip. Too many are out of focus. I wonder if I just wasn't deliberate enough, or didn't look at the results close enough to notice that some of them weren't up to snuff.

Thanks for the laugh! I really enjoyed your phone conversation update. It great that you got someone who would play along.

We had a lot of fun with that...definitely a highlight!

I can't believe you didn't get James to pose in front of the fountain. He hasn't questioned you yet on the crazy things you asked him to do so far.

Well, you know, the boss was along that morning. :rolleyes1

I love the atmosphere in this picture. I wish I'd been able to take more time to explore the WS on my last trip to see spots like this...we were trying to finish spy missions! I guess I'll just have to go back.

Hey, you just need a reason such as this, right?

Your kids are at an age where the spy missions really help them have a good time in the World Showcase. At that age it's hard for them to appreciate "atmosphere". Heck, James would have probably preferred to do a mission, but I think the girls were starting to really enjoy what WS has to offer.

Yes!

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

That is hilarious! I'm glad you finally found someone to play along. Nice job documenting it, too! :thumbsup2

It was fun!

If someone had taken a picture of me during that call it probably would've been pretty funny also -- operating a phone and a camera at the same time. Hey, gimme a scooter and I'll drive too! And throw in some Taco Bell while you're at it.
not-tagged-smiley-10762.gif

If we stopped to think about how many heads have tried these on, we probably wouldn't do it ourselves. But like you said, you can't resist the fez.

Well, one of our kids did catch lice at school a number of years ago and now Judy freaks out whenever we do this, so I'm surprised at how many hat pictures we have. I'm not sure how we pulled that off.

Another awesome shot.

Thanks, I like that one too. It's kind of funny because it looks so calm, but because we had to wait for people to walk through, when they finally cleared out and I could take the picture, my kids were saying, "hurry up! hurry up!". ie. It wasn't all that calm behind the camera.

Glenn, do you do any post-processing to your photos before you post them here? I just started doing it on mine where they looked a little washed out from the Florida sun, and I'm kicking myself for not having tried it before writing my TR. :rotfl2:

I'm sure that any professional photographer who might happen to look in at this TR can tell you that I obviously don't. I've played around some, but I really don't know what I'm doing. I usually don't like the results better than the original. So nope, every picture in here is exactly how it was taken.

OMG (an expression I always thought I'd never use, but hey, sometimes it just fits), that phone call was awesome! Glad you finally caught someone willing to have a little out-of-the-blue Disney fun.

Yay, I got an "OMG" out of Nory! That was a really fun moment, I think we'll remember it for a long time.

I love Marlene's poses! What a cutie-pie (wait, sorry, are tweens too old to be called cutie-pies? :goodvibes)

No, I don't think she'd mind being called a cutie-pie.

I hate to categorize my kids, but.....she tends toward the dramatic more than the other two.

That's great you got a successful pay phone call in! :cool1: Sounds like they were pretty good sports about it too, and you even got to have a "smile, you're on candid..or glennbo's..camera!" moment!

It was great, and they loooved it! It was great to be on the sending end of some magic. :wizard:

I totally agree with that guy's logic too, when you're in Disney, you do have to pick up ringing phones and peek in every little corner, never know what you might miss! (or who's trip report you may end up on!)

That's so true. You just never know at Disney. Be careful not to miss it!

DBF had bought one of the fez'es (I have no idea how to pluralize fez)

Fuzz?

for his brother in law while we were there. It was pretty funny, the guy wrapped it in probably around 30 feet of that paper wrapping stuff. I'm not even exaggerating, we had to unwrap most of it to get it to fit into our luggage so we could take it home, and it just kept going and going and going. All that to protect a hat! :rotfl:

You probably looked like a magician pulling scarves out of his sleeve. But I imagine those fez's are easily prone to being crushed, which wouldn't be good.

Yeah for finally getting someone to answer the phone!! Thanks to you I now have all three numbers programmed on my cell and look forward to using them this fall.

Hi, and :welcome: thegreggersmom!!

That's great, I hope you have a lot of fun using them. :thumbsup2

And thanks for reading!

Great update!!! So happy you finally had that conversation you wanted! It's great that he was such a good sport.

I really like Morroco. It's mostly empty most of the time so it's a very nice place to just chill.

:cool1: Someone picked up the phone :cool1:

And walked over and picked it up. My kids got all giddy and started jumping around. :yay:

My kids were laughing and excitedly moving around, but trying not to be too obvious.
zrunningamok.gif
Hahaha! My sentiments exactly, and I was only reading your trip report... I must be crazy but I guess that's normal around here :rotfl:

They walked over and talked to us for a minute. The guy said, “I walked by, and the phone started ringing. And all I could think was, ‘When you’re at Disney, and you walk by a phone and it rings…how can you not pick it up?’” :confused3
:wizard: So true! :thumbsup2

Wonderful pictures glennbo123, and all of your kids are so cute!

This post is especially for Poolrat and Flossbolna. :)

Did not know I could do quotes from my phone until I tried it on my TR earlier.

:worship: To the initiator of updates at the top of the page.

At first I typed it in but then i realized i could swish? over and actually hit the icon and it would insert.

It is a new phone and I am loving it, one my better decisions. Kept me occupied this AM while I was having my car worked on. :car:

Fabulous update Glenn! So much going on in Morocco!:thumbsup2 I really love the look of this pavillion. It reminds of Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark when Marian is yelling "Innnnddddyyyy!!"
IMG_3974.jpg

I absolutely love your phone encounter! Finally, you got a taker! The best part was seeing the guy laughing afterward when he saw you all!:rotfl: Oooh, you look like such a fun family, even if you're slightly moist at times.;)

Marlene is too cute, I love her dramatic flair.:goodvibes
IMG_3965.jpg

Is she by any chance part Genie?;)
IMG_3972.jpg

James is adorable and I love this background! It's very Aladdin-ish.
IMG_3971.jpg

Bummer about your stitched picture though. At least they're going to rectify their mistake and good for you for calling them out on it. Who expects a picture to be printed out with parts missing anyway.:headache: Looking forward to the pic of your finished pic when it arrives.:goodvibes

Update on the World Showcase print

I have good news, bad news, and good news...

Good news: The World Showcase print arrived in the mail today! :yay:

Bad news: They cut off a few countries. :headache: They treated the 11" in height as the main requirement, and had to cut off some of the picture to keep it at the length I ordered. I expected them to print the whole thing to length, and give me white space at the top and bottom.

Good news: They're going to re-print it, no charge. :)

When I received it and saw that it was the full 11" in height, I knew they had to have cut off some of the picture. (Norway, France, and the U.K. were sacrificed. ) I called the phone number in the shipping documents and told them that I wasn't happy with it and what the problem was. They were nice about it, but the first thing the guy said was, "Well, if that's what you expected (to have white space at the top and bottom) you should have stated that in the 'Comments' box when you ordered." I said, "Maybe so, but if you were going to cut off data in my picture, I would have expected a phone call or an e-mail that there was an issue with my order." He agreed, and wondered out loud why the technician didn't call.

Anyway, he liked the picture, wondered how many photos it was made of, and commented that you can't tell where it's stitched together.

A re-do will be on its way shortly. :thumbsup2

Sweet! You'll have to let us know how it turns out.

nice phone conversation glenn,

i have the three UK ones on my desk and want to just give em a call one day, maybe i will when no one is in the office, dont want them to think i am weird or something.

i bet it would be funny to call all three at the same time.

When we finished up our slushies, moussies, and carrot sticks in France

Phew, for a moment I thought you were going to say "stickies".

it was about a quarter to 1 o'clock, and time to move on to Morocco.

That's some great planning- right down to the minute!:worship:

Marlene found this settee (I believe that’s what you’d call it)

Ottoman, settee, seat, whatever works.

Then we wandered further back, past Restaurant Marrakesh, near the fountain where Marlene and I had a Photopass picture taken the day before....

and prayed she wouldn't spill the beans to Judy. :rolleyes1

I looked up the number for the pay phone across the courtyard in my cell phone and let Lauren call it.

And walked over and picked it up. My kids got all giddy and started jumping around. :yay:

The moments they'll remember most...

Now the wife is full-out taking pictures of this magical moment.

Did you get her DISer screen name?

Me: “Oh no, this is going to be expensive.”

That's what I'D have been thinking!

“Oh, well played! Well played, sir!”

FUN moment of the day!

The guy said, “I walked by, and the phone started ringing. And all I could think was, ‘When you’re at Disney, and you walk by a phone and it rings…how can you not pick it up?’” :confused3

What about HIS DISer screen name?

We walked back into the bazaar area and James found a spot to sit down in front of this mural of a Moroccan town.

IMG_3971.jpg

WOW! That looks almost as real as the one(s) at DHS.

I dream of Marleney. :genie:

IMG_3972.jpg
[/QUOTE]

Well, the hair's brown anyway.

Careful James, you’ll get fez head.

IMG_3973.jpg

Is that kinda like the cooties?

No, I didn’t ask James to strike a pose like mine from the day before. Who knows what would have happened?!

He'd have dropped a coin in??:confused3:lmao::lmao::lmao:

The last thing we did in Morocco was to check-out the little museum called “Moroccan Style -- the art of personal adornment.” I remember seeing some elaborate clothing and jewelry, some examples of henna tattoos, and a horse dressed in its finest ‘Sunday-go-to-meetin’ clothes. It’s a nice little stop that’s well worth the few minutes it takes to look through it.

It IS a really fun little museum. You know I checked it out too, (on my own, since they don't have the tour anymore) and was super impressed. One of the pictures I am missing (or never got) was a lizard (live) in one of the window displays. It was worth a chuckle at the time. Although would have been moved quickly into the hilarious category if it was like up on the woman's head wearing the veil. I like it MUCH more than the Stave Church of the Tin Toy museum, as there's much more to see in this one.

YEAH!!! a Glenn update!! (even if I was a little late to the party!!)

I think its awesome that you got some guy (sucker) to pick up the phone!!

I might have to try that when I go back to the the World...IN JULY of this year!!

WAHOOO!!! :cool1:

Now, I have to say that my world completely crashed down on me on Thursday (more on that later, I just cant talk about it quite yet..sorry) but I told my DH ..."I need some happy in my life and Walt can give it to me"..

and he agreed!!

So, off to plan a trip!! :woohoo:

BUT...the last 2 trips we've never really explored Morocco, so maybe this time??

Great update!!! So happy you finally had that conversation you wanted! It's great that he was such a good sport.

Glad you liked it! It was a fun moment, and we finally found the perfect person to call.

I really like Morroco. It's mostly empty most of the time so it's a very nice place to just chill.

Morocco is a really good pavilion to spend some time in.

Thanks Trib!

Did not know I could do quotes from my phone until I tried it on my TR earlier.

Good job! You are technology-saavy.

:worship: To the initiator of updates at the top of the page.

Hey, you worked on them hard enough -- you want 'em displayed prominently, right?

At first I typed it in but then i realized i could swish? over and actually hit the icon and it would insert.

It is a new phone and I am loving it, one my better decisions. Kept me occupied this AM while I was having my car worked on. :car:

I don't have swishing capabilities with my phone.

I have a poker game on mine, which is great for waiting rooms like that. My bankroll is now a little over $20,000. :woohoo: Wish it were real. :(

Fabulous update Glenn! So much going on in Morocco!:thumbsup2 I really love the look of this pavillion. It reminds of Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark when Marian is yelling "Innnnddddyyyy!!"

Thanks! Yeah, they should put one of those big baskets somewhere (that Marian climbed into and got carried off). Well, on second thought, maybe not. People would be constantly climbing into it with other people trying to carry them around. Could be dangerous.

I absolutely love your phone encounter! Finally, you got a taker! The best part was seeing the guy laughing afterward when he saw you all!:rotfl: Oooh, you look like such a fun family, even if you're slightly moist at times.;)

When I started to write this chapter, I couldn't remember what pictures I had. I knew I had some of him talking on the phone with his wife photographing him, but I didn't remember that I had one after the "reveal". I was so happy to see that one! It really captured the moment.

Marlene is too cute, I love her dramatic flair.:goodvibes

Is she by any chance part Genie?;)

Thanks. She'd like to be, I'm sure.

James is adorable and I love this background! It's very Aladdin-ish.

Thanks again. I wish I'd focused that one better. :headache: It was a cool background. Marlene was in "Aladdin" a couple of months ago and the scenery looked very much like this.

Bummer about your stitched picture though. At least they're going to rectify their mistake and good for you for calling them out on it. Who expects a picture to be printed out with parts missing anyway.:headache: Looking forward to the pic of your finished pic when it arrives.:goodvibes

I was surprised they printed it like that, but I can't complain -- they're taking care of it.

Sweet! You'll have to let us know how it turns out.

Will do.

nice phone conversation glenn,

i have the three UK ones on my desk and want to just give em a call one day, maybe i will when no one is in the office, dont want them to think i am weird or something.

i bet it would be funny to call all three at the same time.

Ooo, you should call a couple of them at the same time and pull them into a conference call with each other, then just sit quietly and see if they figure out that they're both at Epcot. :rotfl2:

Phew, for a moment I thought you were going to say "stickies".

Grilled stickies at Ye Olde College Diner in State College, PA......Mmmmmmm!

That's some great planning- right down to the minute!:worship:

It's amazing how picture properties help you with your trip report!

Ottoman, settee, seat, whatever works.

Ottoman sounds turkish...this was Morocco.

and prayed she wouldn't spill the beans to Judy. :rolleyes1

Um, maaaaybe. :rolleyes1

The moments they'll remember most...

Hope so!

Did you get her DISer screen name?

What about HIS DISer screen name?

It didn't occur to me at the time, but afterwards I wondered if they were DISers. Oh well.

Well, the hair's brown anyway.

I was thinking of Barbara Eden.

Is that kinda like the cooties?

Not nearly as bad as that!

He'd have dropped a coin in??:confused3:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Something like that.

It IS a really fun little museum. You know I checked it out too, (on my own, since they don't have the tour anymore) and was super impressed. That would have been a good picture!

I agree, better than the Stave Church, which is good, don't get me wrong, but you can be in and out of there in 30 seconds.

YEAH!!! a Glenn update!! (even if I was a little late to the party!!)

:woohoo:

I think its awesome that you got some guy (sucker) to pick up the phone!!

Finally! They may be born every minute, but it's hard to get them to pick up the phone.

I might have to try that when I go back to the the World...IN JULY of this year!!

Hey, don't rub it in. ;)

Now, I have to say that my world completely crashed down on me on Thursday (more on that later, I just cant talk about it quite yet..sorry) but I told my DH ..."I need some happy in my life and Walt can give it to me"..

BUT...the last 2 trips we've never really explored Morocco, so maybe this time??

I recommend it!

Another great update. Fantastic pictures. And what a cool phone call. And I cannot believe that despite how much I adore WS, I've never been that far back into Morocco. In fact, I don't think I realized all of that was even back there. :lmao:
