Last year I made the mistake of wearing sandals all day at the parks. My arches hurt, I had blisters, I was miserable! I learned my lesson the hard way.
I am going to get a good shoe with arch support.
So what would you recommend????

you will have a million ppl on here tell you to get crocs, but if you go in the winter...I don't think they look so hot with sock, so I am traditional, good ole sneakers/tennis shoes. I prefer Nike or new balance, wear thicher socks than you normally do and break them in ahead of time, and they never have failed me! I don't get blisters (but sometimes wear those rubbery heel band aids just in case, they stay on for days!) and I am very comfortable in them. good luck!

Seriously - try crocs... the real ones, not a knock off. I have the highest arches on the planet, and they really really work. They have cool disney crocs - these are the only things that have had me not have achy feet after a long day at the parks (sore legs is another story, but my feet didn't hurt.) Wear socks -but if you don't like the look, try wearing socks that match the crocs.

If you want sneaker advice, my favorite is Brooks.

My advice is to try on as many different styles of shoes/sneakers/sandals that you can to find what works for you. Everyone has different comfort levels. Everyone on these boards raves about Crocs and for me they are just so uncomfortable (not to mention just about the ugliest shoes I've ever seen). For me, I went to EMS and had my foot measured about 100 different ways. I ended up with Chacos sandals that fit beautifully and are sooo comfortable. A bit pricey, but worth it to prevent achey, blistery feet during our next trip!

:)

I wear sandals and running shoes with socks. My feet didn't hurt me at all. I wear my sandals on the long days and the running shoes on the short. My feet sweat alot in socks and then I get blisters so I try to not wear them as much. My sandals are well worn in and have no problems with them.

I have worn everything from Birkenstock sandals (real ones, not knock offs, looked hideous with DHs white athletic socks when it turned cold :)), to Croc Athens flip flops (worked pretty well) to Teva Flip flops (not that great). I usually wear the Athens or my Saucony athletic shoes, but I really hate closed shoes. My feet burn up. This trip I may wear my new Crocs (think they're called Capri) they look a little dressier than flip flops and maybe they won't make me take them off on Soarin'. I echo the person that said to try several different types and also bring several types. I have found (the hard way) that shoes that feel perfectly comfy at home (my cute Merrell sandals) rub blisters the minute we set foot on Main Street USA!

ICAM with Heather!~ I have horribly high arches and I wear broke in nikes as well. I also get the extra arch support thingees to put under the original nike sole. Crocs are great and I wear them when we aren't in comando Disney mode and can enjoy the slow pace of the parks. But for the comando like days me and my nikes with the extra arch are there together. There are also
some sock makers( like keds) who make a great arch support sock that work really well.

Here's to you and your footsies at WDW!~

I have had serious foot issues and surgeries the past few years, I almost lost a foot. I use to wear birks for years and was told that is the worst thing for people that NEED arch support.
I have been wearing Brooks ( these run about $130.00:scared1: ) if you want the kind I wear , They are VERY Light weight and very breathable, PM me and I will give more details on what is good. I also wear a visco's ( another $80 but last for years) ( I can't recall if that is spelled correct) inside the running shoes as well. I do not run.LOL I wear these to help from getting another rare tumor I had.

No sandal ever worked for me.. Neither did crocs.

went back to my sneaker with ankle support. Get sox with coolmax in them.
Find the right sneaker for you. I went to shoe store and they sized me and looked at my foot. For me, Nike is best.

I had always worn New Balance which is a fabulous sneaker but for my type foot, Nike was better. Store was sooo right.

Also another tidbit, Get the sneaker 1/2 to 1 size larger than you normally wear. With all the walking you do in a day your foot expands and if you wear your normal size your toes will wind up pounding the top of your sneaker.

Also, put vaseline or a glide on your feet each morning to protect you from blisters.

Trust me, if you do this you will never ever had tired feet or a blister ever ever again.

I'm a nurse and we have been wearing crocs for years and that is what I wear to WDW. I have to wear socks with them because they are creepy without but I wear the no show kind. I don't care if I look funny, those people will never see me again.

I have recently found Crocs and really like them...but I have been wearing them on walks...and I am finding they are not magical like I wanted them to be. I think the little nubbies may start to irritate my feet and I feel like I am just wearing any old pair of smushy type flip flops.
I am going to keep wearing them on my walks until we go on the trip to decide if they are going to WDW with me or not.

otherwise...its the tried and true. Nike air slide in walking shoes.
;)

The most important thing is that whatever shoes you take to WDW, break them in first! Not just a week before the trip either. Wear them a month or two of heavy activity. They need to be broken in well before the trip.

I usually take a pair of Propet wash and wear walkers and a pair of Easy Spirit level 3 walkers, so I can trade off. I have high arches, and the Propet really fit my arches well. The Easy Spirit have more cushioning though. If I alternate them, I don't have any trouble with my feet.

I switch out my shoes. I wear sneakers on my "comondo" Disney days. Which are about the first 4 days of our trip. And my feet begin to hurt. Then I switch to my crocs (the real ones not the cheaper kinds, they make my feet hurt worse). Then after a couple of days I switch back to my sneakers.

I bought Crocs and returned them - first of all they only come in full sizes (which I believe is a huge negative) and because of the material they are with no real give to them I found them to be very very uncomfortable so I guess it's sneakers for me :thumbsup2

No crocs for me! I bought them, and I do wear then around town to do errands and such, but absolutely no support for me (I'm rolie-polie so maybe they can't handle the load! LOL!).

TEVAs are my salvation! They have excellent support, can be adjusted to fit your foot, they can get wet - a BIG plus at Disney during afternoon rain showers and for wet rides, like Kali River Rapids - and they are rather hip, IMO!

As a matter of fact, I just got my new ones (I order from their website) and I'll start to walk in them now so they'll be good and broken-in for our August trip.

Only drawback - they give you a funky tan on the top of your feet!

I have some major back problems. You name it, I'ved tried it. The only shoe that I am able to walk around WDW with is Ryka crosstraining sneakers. From what I understand, Ryka is made only for women, and they are wonderful. I have been wearing them for years. I give them :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 .

At home, I wear nothing but crocs. While at WDW in September, I brought all Crocs with me. By the end of the second day, my feet were covered with blisters. It rained every day and that had a lot to do with it. I had to go to the gift store and buy the Disney sneakers.

I still wear nothing but crocs, here at home. Maybe the extra moisture and sweat did me in:confused3
