Most boring stretch of road

I-57 thru Illinois, from Kankakee until I-24 is just awful, 4 plus hours of nothing!! Luckily for us, we hit Kankakee 30 minutes into the trip, so until we get to about Champaign or Efflingham we are at least excited about the trip.

So for me, the worst part is 75 thru Georgia because by that time we are tired and getting a little crabby.

I've always hated the NJ Turnpike. We get on at Exit 10, I can't even imagine how it would be from all the way at the end to exit 1!

I went to the University of Maryland at College Park, and the NJ Turnpike was the worst part of that drive! Once we were in Delaware the rest of the trip seemed like minutes!

I also find it takes forever to get through Georgia!

For us it's 441 South from about Fargo, GA to around Gainesville, FL. We do our best to avoid I75.

I have to agree on southern Illinois.

As a bonus, if you do it at the right time of year you get the pleasure of the infamous "bug hail". That's right folks, so many bugs dying on your windshield that it sounds like a full-on hailstorm. :scared:

The first time I encountered THAT lovely freak of nature I didn't realize at first just what I'd driven into. When I figured it out I felt like vomiting for the next 100 miles. (It is just horrible. I grew up with Love Bugs and thought that was bad, but it doesn't begin to touch the horror of Illinois "bug hail"!)

I have made the dreaded I-35 thru I-70 drive to Denver so I feel for you if you take that on the way to disney.

For us it's I-49 through Louisiana. When it was first completed there were stretches of 60 miles or more without exits and pretty much the same semi-marshy forested scenery all along it. It's got nothing on I-40 (below)

and I-70 but luckily the drive isn't too bad from Dallas.

The part I dread is the state of WV. There are so many ups and downs and curvs. We always go through there at night and it scares me to death.

We will be doing it again in July!! Can't wait. At least I know that WDW is at the end!!

One time we had to go to Pensacola for a day before going to Disney. I-10 through the Florida panhandle is Loooong and boring!!

did this but it was feb and durning an ice storm. OMG who ever signed the plan to build that turnpike needs to lay off the beer. its worst then pa turnpike, help we are surround by bad turnpikes to get out of ohio. :lmao:

I have to say the most boring part of my trip is I-84, it seems to go on forever and ever and ever. I've only made the trip to FL once myself, and I do admit that the stretch between NC and SC seemed long, but everyone in the car was a Disney virgin, so we had fun inventing games on the way down and kept ourselves entertained, as well as seeing countryside we had never seen before.

The whole route coming back.
If I had to pick a stretch though, i'd say I-75 between Atlanta and FL.

Turnpike Hollywood Fl. to WDW than Osceola to POP! :headache: OMG this is why I fly!:thumbsup2

Try US 31 from South Bend thru Indy. I wish they would invent big bank tubes you could put your car in & get shot thru 31. All Northern Hoosiers know what I mean;)

I agree with this. I remember taking a trip on 31 from Chicago as a child on the way to Florida. Endless and monotonous. All of Indiana looks the same--nothing but cornfields and overpasses. The entire trip wasn't on 31--we started out on 41. But it doesn't matter. It all looks the same.

Got 2 sections which is boring and long. The first is on I95 in SC between I26and GA line and the second is I95 between Jacksonville and Daytona. Seems like it takes forever to get to Daytona!

I-95 from the NC/SC border (South of the Border area) to GA exit 94 where we usually stop for the night.
Rough Pavement
Bad Visibility/Poorly Lit
Very few wide shoulders
Very few nice places to stop for any reason

I guess I shouldn't complain since we are only about 660 miles from WDW (a drop in the bucket compared to some of you) but that stretch of road just bums me out.
Once we are in Florida I don't mind so much-I'm usually driving thru J'Ville around 10AM on a Sunday and can make pretty good time from there to I-4.

The whole route from NW Ohio to Orlando!

We are on 75 all but 1 hour starting and the hour & a half or so ending!

I have made the trip sooooo many times that the whole thing is aweful for me.

We have started taking different routes just to shake it up and get some new scenery, even if it takes a little longer!

my worst part is when we hit florida on I95 just because you still have a ways to go but you are in florida so it makes it seem twice as long a stretch.

reading this post makes me want to fly instead but it is so much cheaper for us to drive.

I always get sleepy when driving. Once I was supposed to drive from Columbia, SC to DC. I got 20 mins outside of Columbia and got so tired I had to pull over and take an hour nap. Pathetic, right?
