Which website has the most accurate WDW weather forecasting? We are leaving in about a week and I know you can't trust ANY of them this far in advance, but which, in your experience, has been the most reliable?

I have been checking Weather.com and Accu-weather.com and both are very different, granted this is a 10-day advance forecast!

Thanks for any help.

I would like to know also. I have been checking accuweather. It seems to change every day, just like weather usually does. I haven't compared any others, I've just looked at weatherunderground which gives only a five day out look.
We will be packing for cooler weather- jeans, t-shirts and some shorts and sweatshirts.

accuweather was pretty close, although when it was 10 days prior to our trip the forecast appeared much warmer than when it was 1 day prior. They said it would be cold and windy and it was! Do plan for every type of weather. I had capris and 3/4 sleeve tee one day and winter coat and gloves the next with the winds. Definitely a "damp" cold in Florida, something we're not used to in CT.

The link for Channel 6 weather that the previous poster gave is usually fairly good to follow.

WESH, Channel 2 has another weather link that is usually good.

Plan for cold evenings for the next week or so.

Thanks, everyone! I have about 5 sites that I check routinely now! lol. This morning, everyone of them said it was for sure going to rain on Monday, now they all say just clouds and no rain! I guess I'll know when I get there, huh? lol. Monday is AK day for us, so I hope it doesn't rain. Not too much to do in that park in the rain. Again, thanks!

Just watched the news here in Orlando. Chance of rain on Saturday and maybe Sunday. Monday will be beautiful. They aren't calling for any rain after the weekend at this point.

Really, don't swear by any reports more then a day or two in advance. All the sites are pretty much the same, and you have to face facts, weather is still not an exact science.`

I will never again plan my WDW trip according to weather forecasts! On our last trip, DH listened to the forecast early every morning. One day they said it would be raining all day. So instead of a day at MK, we decided to do some outlet shopping and stay offsite. BIG mistake! By noon the sun was out and the rest of the day was gorgeous. Oh, and btw...the next day's forecast was for sunny skies and we had a few downpours that afternoon. Only God knows what the weather will be. Be prepared for anything and have a good time.

Just to show that you can't believe the weather forecasts, the weather in Orlando for the past 5 days has been great.

And, the forecast is for increasingly higher temperatures, maybe going to the high 70s this week. Believe what you want to about the weather, but it has been great lately.

As someone who has a degree in meteorlogy, I would trust the National Weather Service (www.weather.gov) over just about anyone. Doesn't mean they're always right, but they're usually the best bet.

Thanks for that info gemini, I'll add that to my list! We just got back from WDW a couple of weeks ago and we actually took a print-out from several different sites with us so we could see which one was closest. (I know, we are really anal...I should say my dh is, it was his idea) We plan on going to WDW every year, so we wanted to know which to trust. Now we have a new one to look at! lol

BTW, out of four or five that we compared, accu-weather.com was the most accurate. Which was disappointing because their website is filled with pop-ups...drives me nuts.

I'll have to say from experience that noaa is not much different then any of the others, IMHO.

gemini, I am not knocking your profession by any means, but would you not agree that weather forecasting is still not an exact science? Yes, I realize that even medicine is not an exact science either, but this thread is talking about weather. :)

You're correct. Forecasting is not an exact science. But the accuracy of a 3-day forecast is pretty good (not sure of the exact number). Once you get past 3 days, the accuracy drops off. Still, even with an 8 or 10 day forecast, you can get a pretty good idea of temperature trends (i.e., looks like a cold spell next week, etc.).

I won't go into the issue here, but a lot of the "meteorologists" you see on TV are, what I call, "weather anchors." They are people with no training, or people who have taken a few correspondence courses. TV news directors are more interested in gadgets, high-tech radars, flashy coverage, and people who look good on camera. Accurate forecasts, made by people who understand the complex dynamics of the atmosphere, are secondary. Some stations are better than others, in this respect.

We had 14 people in our group at AK when it poured most of our day there. It was arguably one of the better days. Kali rapids didn't bother us as we were already soaked, and the rain cleared out pretty much the rest of the park.

Animal sightings were somewhat down, but not much different than during the heat of the day. There were so few people at Conservation Station that Rafiki, Pocahontas and Flick had little to do other than entertain us. Rides were almost walk-on.

And for those who don't like the overpriced all looks the same ponchos...I found they make for wonderfully color-saturated photos. :)

As for weather forecasting, I don't trust any of them. :p
