We are going in just under 3 weeks and I was wondering if there were many mosquitos about at this time of the year? Will we need to buy anything for the room or to put on?

At Disney property they are regularly spraying that you rarely see or hear one, out in orlando you find them later in the evening if you are wearing perfumes or body lotions, and if you have a hot blood as they say as body scent attracts them, but it isn't a serious thing just carry a menthol ointment for once they bite. :flower:

Been six times in the last six years, never seen or heard one. The girlfriend is usally a common target for mozzies and has never been touched by one in all our trips to Orlando. I belive they have an extensive spraying proceedure out there and, from our experience, it seems to do the trick.

I must admit I've never had a mozzie bite in my three trips to Florida but it can't hurt to take preventative measures - I hear that Avon's Skin So Soft moisturising lotion works well as a repellant.

Hello,

Another vote for Avon Skin So Soft,

I use the shower gel all holiday and if going near any water (big attraction form mosquitos) I put some dry oil spray on aswell. Another prevention is to limit amount of perfume worn.

You guys just made me realize I've never been bitten by a mosquito at WDW. I've lived in Florida all my life and they are everywhere, especially this time of year, but not in WDW. I agree that you might need to take something to put on a bite if you happen to get one in Orlando, but you shouldn't need any repellent.

Well a couple of you have mentioned this now - and I never knew that! You learn something every day on these boards :Pinkbounc

Generally around WDW I've never been bitten, but last trip (in August) we had a long wait at the bus stop at AKL for the bus to DTD. It was early evening and I had forgotten to put any insect repelant on - and I must have been first choice on the mosquitos menu! I had bites on every bit of exposed skin!

After that I always put on insect repelent (I use the 50% DEET one from Boots) - best to be safe than sorry :)

You can also take Vitamin B, this also helps keep them mozzies away :sunny:
