Mortgage Payoff Party ideas - help! - this is BIG for us! UPDATE post #48

Why did I click on this topic...I so jealous :worship:. Current payoff for home is in 2039!! We do the bi weekly payment and hopefully at one point want to one full extra monthly payment at the beginning of every year to try and shave off some years. Hope to have loan paid off by 2031 which would be 20 years on a 30 year loan. Congrats to all who have made that final payment!

Congrats!! :cheer2:

Do you check your score regularly? It may have been higher while you still had a mortgage. Somewhere on the budget board I recall reading someone saying their score dropped slightly once they had $0 debt. Anyhoo, regardless of the score, it's got to be such a wonderful feeling to be so completely free.:cloud9: I would take that over any score.
Enjoy your trip planning! :goodvibes

congratulations-and welcome to the club!!!!!!

don't be surprised at all the offers you start getting for new credit cards and home equity lines of credit (we get at least 4 a week for one or the other and just shake our heads 'no, no, no' as we shred them up).

we still have a couple of credit cards but pay them in full each month-living debt free has had no negative impact on our credit score.

At the very end of October, we'll make our final mortgage payment. Normally, we slip the payment in the little mail slot at the mortgage company. But for this last payment, I want us to walk in and hand it to them. I want to put the payment in a card like this:

I'll probably surprise my wife with a carrot cake from our favorite bakery and have the top done like this:

Then we'll go out to dinner and enjoy finally being mortgage free.
