Morrocco not lit up during Illuminations?

I read somewhere that each of the pavilions had to finance their own lighting, and that Morocco and Norway simply chose not to. Not sure how accurate this is. :confused3

Its not. While the countries or a company from their country did have to finance the original construction of the pavilion. The installation of lights was done by the Walt Disney company with the help of GE.

The lights were added to the pavilions for Illuminations, which started in 1988. The lights were not there when the park opened. They were only installed in 1988. Morocco was already there and Norway was under construction. .

That's IMPOSSIBLE!

We were viewing the lighted buildings at the evening shows (Laserphonic Fantasy and later, IllumiNations) for years.

"Laserphonic Fantasy", the park's first lagoon show, opened on June 9, 1984. ....it was replaced by "Illuminations." "Laserphonic Fantasy" featured music by Don Dorsey called the "Festival of Festivals," which was originally used for the opening of EPCOT in 1982.

I remember being SURPRISED that the new "countries" were not ADDED to the light-shows after completion.

BTW, these buildings are NOT "sacred" they are theme-park pavillions.
If a building was considered "too sacred" for strip-lighting it could not be "stuck up in a theme-park".

The lights that line the buildings of World Showcase were not there for Carnival de Lumiere, A New World Fantasy, or Laserphonic Fantasy. They were installed for Illuminations in 1988. Hence the name "Illuminations." The Pichel lights (the ones that are like spotlights) were added to the pavilions for A New World Fantasy but the white lights that line the buildings were not added until 1988.

I do not buy that Morocco is not lit up for religious reasons. As stated previously, Mexico, China and Japan also have buildings of religious significance depicted, and even elements of Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom have buildings or elements that have religious undertones. Clearly it was not disrespectful to outline these buildings and elements in light. I do not see why it would be any different for Morocco.

However, let's assume that WDI would not be permitted to outline the minaret (tower) for religious reasons. Why are none of the other buildings in Morocco outlined? It cannot be because those ones bear religious significance as well, since most of them are buildings that house shops and restaurants.

While there are religious buildings at many of the pavilions the situation is much different with Morocco. Anyone who is up to date on current events should know that people in that part of the world are very strict when it comes to this type of things. Morocco was constructed without any animal designs in the tile and artwork because they believe only Allah can create like. The pavilion was also built so that every tile work, and artwork in the pavilion has a flaw because they believe that only Allah is perfect.

In any case even if you don't believe it was done for religious reasons. The fact remains that the lighting was installed 4 years after Morocco opened, and while Norway was nearing completion. Thus the reason could not have been (and was not) because Disney did not want to spend the money to put them on the new pavilions.
