Hi

How many dishes can you get there WITHOUT strong ingredients like curry, garlic and onion? I am tempted but my sister is conservative. We have had some middle eastern food but the items I mentioned don't settle well with us.

Any meals you can recommend that would work for us? I did look over the menu but a lot of places nowadays slip in garlic (marinate, etc.) without listing it.

We found Marrakesh toned down in their spices but they were still quite tasty. We started going to this restaurant when my DD was 4 years old and it's still her favorite and she doesn't like strong food.

I do not like Spicy foods and LOVE Marrakesh.the spices are quite toned down.I loved the Kebabs

I agree with both of the other posters.
My family is very conservative in food tastes and we all enjoyed Marrekesh.

Ill know in just 20 days. It is our first meal of this trip. I heard that if you like "plain" foods then it probably isn't a good choice.

I don't like spicy at all and was able to eat at Marakesh without a problem.

Morroccan spices are not of the hot type. The spices generally used in their dishes are cinnamon, cumin, ginger and tumeric. Delicious, flavorful dishes. However, as others have said, at Marrakesh they've definitely toned down the spices.

I wondered about this. As I mentioned it's the garlic, onions and curry we were concerned about. The ones you mentioned are not a problem for us.

Thank you!

I am not a spicy food eater and I found Marrakesh to be delicious. We would definitely go back there.

At Spoodles on the other hand, DD and I learned at our first visit what Harissa was and that it couldn't be entirely scraped off the kebobs! We learned our lesson from that - if we don't know what the flavoring is we don't mind looking ignorant and asking our server!

we loved Marakesh. Our kids are very picky about spices and they loved it as well. They weren't too keen on the cous cous because they don't like raisins and the kind they had had some raisins in it. I loved it though.

I cannot take strong garlic & onion, either. The shwarma platter had some onion slices on it, but they were on top, like a garnish. It was easy to just push them off to the side. They were not cooked into the food at all...really were just decorative. The food on the platter was tasty, but no strong spices. DH had the meatballs & rice...rice was bright yellow, but no strong taste to it...just rice. Meatballs were flavorful but not spicy like Italian meatballs.

Thanks for all the replies! Maybe now I can talk my sister into trying Marrekesh.

I love Morrocan food and the spicy refers to the spice combinations rather than what we American's think of as spicy hot! Most of the dishes are wonderfully but mildly flavored to cater to the American palate. However if you do like spicy "hot" they have condiments that you can ask for to individually spice your dish up!

So I talked to my sis about all your replies and printed out a menu for her and she's agreed Marrekesh sounds good! Thanks for all the help.
