I have heard that stitch (ugh) does do it, but can you get other theme park characters to wake you up? does mickey still have a recording ? or goofy?

It's a combination of Stitch and Mickey. Before they start talking, there's a couple of seconds where music is playing -- this was different each day.

I think they change it every now and then, but no, you can't choose your character. If that was possible, DD would have been much happier than she was when she realized it was Stitch on the phone last week. lol

There's been a long thread on the Resort Board, and (unfortunately, lots of us think), it's only been Stitch for the last 4 years. He started the day the movie came out in 2002. I even wrote a letter of complaint to TPTB to let them know how much I missed Mickey's cheery voice. I reminded them how he called me his "Pal" and told me how glad he was I was at WDW and encouraged me to get up because there were "big doins' goin' on." They never answered me. :scratchin Do ya think they thought I was a little crazy?
Honestly, I don't know why they don't give people a choice, like "Touch 1 for [maybe Goofy], touch 2 for-"

We just returned 3 weeks ago from POFQ. I tried in vain 2 days in a row to use the wake up call button on the resort phone but it did not work at all. Finally I asked a CM at the front desk if my phone was broken and why the wake up call button did not work. She said just dial "O" to request a wake up call that the button on the phone didn't do that anymore.

I wish you had a choice, esp. b/c I hate Stitch and am really sick of him.

We returned last week from POR and that is exactly what we experienced.

Yea, I got Stitch every day on my last trip and he is HORRIBLE. Practically screams in your ear. I was seriously tempted to call my mom and ask her to call and wake us up, but I was afraid she would forget or something.

I'd happily sign a petition to get rid of Stitch for the wake-ups!

BRING BACK MICKEY!!!!!!!!!!!

It used to be Mickey but it now has Stitch and Mickey. I don't mind hearing Stitch because I like him. DH on the other hand hates him so I answer the phone!!!!

We stayed at POR from 11/5 - 11/11 and my DD answered the phone two mornings. We decided to not get up early each morning and we only had wake up calls twice. She said it was Stitch and Mickey the first day, but she insisted it was Goofy the second day singing a country song to her. She hung up before I could ever listen, so I don't know how accurate that is. But, she is almost 8 and she pays attention to details, so I lean towards thinking she was right.

same characters back in June 06, Stitch and Mickey, and Stitch was not pleasent for a wake up call...after the first couple days, I would just pick up the receiver and hang it up again, without listening.

I just got back -- it was music, then Stich and Mickey. Stich still says pretty much the same thing, but it's not even REMOTELY as bad as it used to be. He still says the same thing, but the voice is softer and he only says a sentence or two, as opposed to the old diatribe.

I would have enjoyed pick-a-character-to-wake-you-up, too. Can't believe they can't be more creative with that one little item that so many people utilize every single day. The only reason I can think they don't bother is that they don't WANT everybody in the resorts clogging the phone lines to get wakeup calls for their kids to listen to.

The business people probably just do what I did after the first day -- pick up the receiver and hang up without listening.

I used to hit the speaker button, so that anyone in the room could enjoy the happy feeling of waking up to Mickey with me. We all loved that.

Now, I just pick up the receiver and hang up.

I don't know why Disney wants to replace Mickey Mouse. They just make the dumbest decisions sometimes.
