Morning sickness (all day) HELP.

So glad you got the Zofran! It is a miracle drug for those expecting.

I had nasty morning sickness for all 3 of my pregnancies and the only thing that helped was getting a prescription for Diclectin, it's a godsend!!! Gravol ginger might help as well

With my twins I was incredibly sick for 5-6 months. I took Zofran and Prevacid, I was creating so much acid it was churning in my stomach making me sick.

Zofran was my friend as well. My insurance company would only pay for 15 pills each month so I would break those little pills in half to make it through each day. It didn't make me feel completely normal, but I could function. It is a miserable feeling. I have two kiddos and I was sick the whole 9 months with each of them.
This was me! I think I had some odd number, like 19 a month. I broke them up and only took them when I couldn't stand it anymore.

For me, coffee in the AM was the only thing that worked until that pill kicked in.

Feel better! I know it's terrible!

I was "underweight" before pregnancy :confused3 even though I was just small, and had absolutely no reserves to work from so I was bed ridden ill and missed lots of school from not being able to eat...

We traveled to Sweden to meet the in-laws in my first trimester and I certainly learned how to aim into a small plastic bag on the train, bus, car, walking in the city... :lmao:
Saltines aren't a magic cure all to the nausea, but it is better to have something in your stomach to soak up the acid than nothing. I found that shortbread did the job much better - high in calories and just as plain. Handful of cheerios, too. Just anything in your stomach, even if you will vomit it out.
Eating stomach acid neutralizing foods made it less painful. There are papaya and digestive enzymes at natural food stores. Crystallized ginger and light teas.

But, sometimes you just have to get the vomiting over with so you can eat real food. I found that if I did vomit in the morning I could start eating better yummier foods by afternoon. Gross idea, but sometimes eating something you can't handle to make yourself sick and get it over with makes you less miserable.
:hippie: Good luck to you and your flock.

with both of my pregnancies, I was sick from conception until delivery. Nothing really helped and Zofran was not commonly used for morning sickness. I worked fulltime (40 hours a week) and people were just used to seeing me throw up all the time. I ended up in the hospital several times for dehydration. In both cases, I weighed less the day I delivered than the day I conceived.

I'm glad you found something to help.

Bland and there... that was my matra .. bland food and always there. empty stomach = dry heaves = nasty feeling all day. A friend of mine swore by smelling black licorce.. not eating it, lol, just smelling it! Nothing in particular helped me consistantly, but like a prev poster, my sucess was more about finding and avoiding the things that I could not deal with... like I could not be near cooking meat.. no matter HOW you were cooking it, I would just gag and gag. it was terrible. I don't miss those days, but it was worth it for my 2 little miracles!

I had all day morning sickness for 9 months. It was awful. What I found to help was eating super cold watermelon first thing in the morning (don't ask me why). My husband would bring it to me when I was still in bed. I think something about the sweetness and the liquid content really helped. (But try finding watermelon in the middle of winter!) Super cold canned pears also helped.

I also wore those SeaBand things on my wrists (they are for motion sickness). I don't know if they really helped but psychologically they did!

After the first couple of weeks I wasn't actually sick, but had the nauseous feeling all day. I could only work 1/2 days per my doctor because I felt so bad. That was all I could manage. I think I went on some kind of medical disability (can't remember exactly--12 years ago).

I think you have to keep experimenting and see what makes you feel the best.

Good luck! And Congratulations!!

So did I- misery.
OP, what kind of worked was to open a Coke and let it get flat. I would sip it and after a while I'd feel normal until the next bout. The one thing I could keep down was corn soup so my mom made it for me for 9 months.:)

With my first pregnancy I was living in the bathroom, just couldn't keep anything down until about 5 months along. I finally just sipped water as much as I could. The doctor was monitoring me and felt I was doing OK, but was this close to putting me in the hospital for IV hydration. Then one morning, I was fine. However the only thing I could even think about eating was McDonalds plain cheesburger and iced tea. That went on for the next 2 months. Then I could eat anything!

With my other pregnancies, I found that Kelloggs Frosted Flakes (dry) before I got up in the morning helped. I kept a box by the bed to grab before I even lifted my head from the pillow. I was able to eat more "normally" with those pregnancies.

:cutie:

I was in your place a year ago. Ugh.
I ended up on anti-nausea meds because I was so sick. I got sick in the car driving to work one day. Nothing worse than having to muddle through until they can find you a sub when you have sick on your clothes. (I kept a change of clothes in my car from that day forward!) Like you, I didn't want to take time off if I could avoid it. The only way to get paid maternity time in my school district is to use your accumulated sick days, so I was trying NOT to miss work if I could muddle through.

I found that Sea-bands helped; ginger capsules, ginger snaps, and ginger gum all helped a lot, too. I found I also got severely carsick when I was pregnant, so, with the doctor's permission, I took Dramamine if we were going to be in the car more than 20 minutes.
