Morning routine

My current circumstances are different but I recently relocated to Florida for work. I am on the east coast and follow the same routine everyday. Up at 5am and off to Starbucks for coffee. Listen to some Foo along A1A. Arrive at the beach just in time for sunrise. After an hour I head back home and get ready for work. "Aint it the life"

OMG, How do you do it. Getting up at 4:25 when it turns cold. I hate that. All I want to do is stay in the warm bed.

I used to have to get up at 3:30 am as I had to be to work by 6 and had a ways to commute. You do what you have to do. Right before I quit I would litterally come home and go to bed and sleep til I had to get up. Dont miss that job at all. Jo

I try to go straight from bed into the shower, starting about 7 am. It gets my day going for homeschooling.

If I go downstairs, get a cup of tea, read the paper, and turn on the computer god forbid, the whole day seems to get away from me. By jumping in the shower and getting dressed I stay better focused.

We're doing school right now so when my ds is working on a worksheet I can hop on the internet for a few minutes at a time. This morning I also ran the dishwasher, did a load of bath towels in the wash, made a loaf of bread (cooking in the machine) and started marinating something for dinner tonight. My best energy is in the morning and I try to take advantage of it!

I'm a night shower-taker. My alarm goes off at 5:32am. I wash my face and brush my teeth first, get dressed and put on make-up, and run downstairs to pack breakfast/lunch to take to work. I'm in the car by 5:52am!

Now, on the weekends, I lay around a bit before I shower and get ready for the day. My DH and I usually got to park and take a walk, so I don't shower until we get back from our exercise.

I was never able to do this.....how do you go to bed with wet hair? My hair is very thick and won't dry for a few hours after washing it.

ETA: I can, however, take a VERY fast shower, even with hair washing, and usually would not blow dry it, just leave for work with semi-wet hair (wash hair at 5:30 and school started at 7:40am so it looked almost dry by the time I had students walk in.) I have always had a wash 'n go style though.

I don't want to have to get up any earlier than I already have too. I get up, take a shower, do my hair, my makeup, get dressed etc. Then I head downstairs and if I have any extra minutes available after letting the dog out, I check my facebook quickly before heading out the door. I don't drink coffee in the morning so there is no need to add time to the routine for that.

I keep switching my routine around trying to find the best fit for getting ready, making sure dd is ready for school, breakfast and trying to spend some time working on online classes each morning.

So, for right now anyway, I get up at 4:30, start the coffee, let the dog out and go get in the shower. I go ahead and put on my make up and then go let the dog in, fix breakfast, at 5:15 I wake up dd and head to the computer. I try to spend around an hour working while I have coffee and breakfast. I then finish getting ready. Make sure the dog is in his kennel, get my lunch fixed and gather all my books, etc. We leave for school/work about 7:15.

I get up at 7:15-7:30, shower, run around like a crazy person getting ready, leave my house by 8 to be at work at 8:30. I hate the mornings so I've never been one to get up and just "hang out". I get up early on the weekends to run but I just roll out of bed, throw on my running stuff, go run, and then shower and eat breakfast. I'd much rather be up until 11 p.m.-midnight doing stuff around the house or reading, etc. I have a co-worker who gets up at 3:30 a.m. every day and reads the paper with her husband, go for walks, do laundry, go to the grocery store, etc. but they also go to bed by 8-8:30 every night. To each their own!

That is me! Well, I do get up 3 days a week now but mostly its get up at the last possible minute, shower, get dressed, makeup, blow dry, put lunch stuff in a bag then head out the door.

I would LOVE to have a leisurely pace in the mornings but my love for sleep overrides me.

BTW, how do you all do it without showering in the mornings? My hair would be a mess and I'd be like a zombie all day?

Weekends are a whole different story....

My morning routine is kind of different: I work from 3pm until 11pm and get home 30 minutes later. I will stay up until about 1am,take a quick shower, then go to bed.

DD12 gets up at 6:30 to get ready for school, so I get up with her and eat breakfast together. She is out the door at 7:30, I go back to sleep for a couple hours.

I get back around 9am, then take care of cleaning, etc. make dinner and put it in fridge so DD can heat it up for my DM and herself.

The weekends I sleep until 10 then take a shower and do whatever.

Up until school started (ds is in K this year) I was getting up around 6a with ds, having coffee and hanging with him and then showering a little before 7am. Then leaving for work by 7:30a.

But we have found it's better for ds to get dressed as soon as he gets up. And better for me to shower right away. So I shower at 6:30a when the alarm goes off. Ds still gets up earlier, but he gets himself dressed. Then we both have coffee/breakfast for him and I make his lunch. I'm usually ready to walk out the door by 7:15a now, somehow things just go much smoother! So I take my time to hang with him, or play a game...or sometimes get on the road early and get an early start to work. :goodvibes

I wake up, get the kids ready for school/on the bus, then I hit the gym. So I don't shower til mid-morning.

I shower immediately because my hair has to dry naturally in order to style well. If I use a hair dryer it's a mess. So, I have to allow drying time in my schedule, the only way to do this is by showering immediately, then do my coffee, breakfast, get kids ready, routine...styling last.

On the days I work (7am-7:30pm)... I take a shower the night before. Have everything laid out and ready to go for the kids the night before, for dh. Up at 6:08am turn on Keurig (coffee, cup, spoon, sugar... all set up night before), wash face, brush teeth, get dressed (scrubs were laid out night before), prepare coffee, grab lunch box (prepared night before), and out the door at 6:23am!!!

On the days I'm off... Up at 7:40am prepare coffee, wake up dd and ds. Get dd ready for school, make breakfast, and at the school bus stop at 8:40. Me and ds play it by ear the rest of the day. Usually playing, cleaning, naptime, and running errands until dd gets home. I usually take a shower while ds naps, unless I worked the night before, because I always take a loooong shower after work... Don't get home until 8:30pm. If I work the next day, I wait to take my shower just before bed.

I drive DS13 to school at 7:30, and DS10 at 8:30. I strive to take it before 7:30 or between the 2 school trips. I need a diet coke and check facebook and email, usually before shower.

I was never able to do this.....how do you go to bed with wet hair? My hair is very thick and won't dry for a few hours after washing it.

I will preface this by saying that I HATE doing my hair. I usually only blow my hair dry and "style" it about 4 times a year. Luckily, I have longish, wavy hair, so I don't think it looks too bad all the other 360 days of the year. And I always have a pony-tail holder on my wrist - I can't stand having hair in my face.

I usually try to shower at least an hour before I go to bed, so it has some chance to air dry. I don't like that wet pillow feeling. In the morning I just put some mousse (SP?) in it, scrunch, and am finished in about 30 seconds.

I am verrrry slow (in terms of physical activity) in the morning.. Yawn....

I can't even remember my own name until I've had at least two cups of coffee.. LOL..

When I was working, I had to get up at least 2 hours before I had to be at work.. Does that answer your question? ;)

I am HORRIBLE with mornings.. I wake up about 20 minutes before I have to get out the door :scared1: Roll out of bed, eat a quick breakfast, throw on my uniform, brush teeth/apply makeup (if I have time!) and run out the door. I only have an 8 minute commute to work, so I only wake up 40 minutes before I have to clock in :lmao:

I workout after work so I take night showers.

Sounds like you're sleeping in!

I'm up at 2 am.
Cup of instant coffee and a quick check of my work e-mail and online papers.
2:25 am
Brush the teeth, shave and get dresses.
2:40 am out the door
3 am at work.

BTW, how do you all do it without showering in the mornings? My hair would be a mess and I'd be like a zombie all day?

..

Forget the hair I would feel like a skank all day if I didn't shower in the mornings!
Alarm goes off at 600- I hop in the shower and am out and dressed by 620- wake up my daughter, get her breakfast....yell at her to get dressed...yell some more to get hair brushed and teeth brushed....pack up her lunch and send her off at 715 for the bus. I read paper and/or email for 20 minutes then leave for work at 740- stop to pick up breakfast and punch into work by 8am.
