Trying to figure out what to do with HS on an 8 am open day.
Plan is to arrive before opening, get a boarding group then rope drop something (TSM probably).
We have a FP for SDD at 3pm and no interest in Smugglers. Kids are too small for Rocking Roller coaster and aren't keen on tower.
We have two HV reservations one at 830 and one at 930.

So, part of me says cancel the HV and do rides, but it seems like lines are longest in the morning. Maybe we try to get some meet and greets done? Or maybe we keep the breakfast as a way to kill time before the shows start?
This uncharted territory is killing my planning

I think in your situation, keeping the breakfast and killing time until the shows start makes sense.

We are tentatively planning that strategy because the Standby lines are building so quickly at rope drop. We hope to do one early FP, two "throwaway" Tier 2s, and then try for additional Tier 1 FPs later in the day.

We ran into this situation too. I’d keep the breakfast to kill time. We RD TSM and then Aliens Swirling Saucers had a 25 minute wait so we did that. Then we did mobile order at woodys lunchbox to kill some time and eat breakfast. I would recommend meeting Mickey or go to launch bay if you want to meet some Star Wars characters before the shows start.

You can do the new Lightning McQueen Academy and then go see the Frozen show and Indiana Jones show, who knows maybe it will be hot when you go and a nice break from the heat may on the menu.
