All the following is personal opinion .... not fact, personal opinion.
Morimoto's DTD has already announced
DDP participation. As a consequence, nothing on the official menu may go beyond the "two point" DDP compensation level. No comment on good or bad - just that, as a business, their menu offerings MUST be clipped in order to run a profitable business, or any shortfalls on DDP compensation must be made up on OOP customers. The books must balance.
Now, it's always possible that we might see the first "three point" restaurant (highly unlikely), or that we might see a "Prix Fixe" with add-on model - either would allow Morimoto's DTD to produce a really STUNNING official menu, befitting a true "Iron Chef" restaurant.
Sandy and I are hopping to see some innovation here - a way to actually offer some higher end items for anyone wishing to pay for them, in the tradition of the other non-DTD Morimoto restaurant's (Philadelphia, NYC, Waikiki, Napa...). A degree of concern? THIS particular Morimoto's is a joint collaboration with the Patina Group (

The building is lovely - But I'm not sure that this PARTICULAR Morimoto's is going to reflect the quality of the other establishments bearing the Morimoto name.
