Myself (Vicki): Planned this trip long before Lee knew about it
Husband Lee: Finally gave in to my sick Disney obsession (like he had a choice)
The Children -
Alex (8): - Not so adventurous and wanted to know before every ride if it was fast and goes up and down
Sydney (6) Hugged all characters like they were long lost sorority sisters
Allyson (4) Dug all the rides (including the ones the older two didnt), but closed her eyes and pretended she was asleep whenever we had a character encounter.
Grandma (my mom) Was a trooper all the way! Probably would have ridden more scary rides if those pesky grandchildren werent hogging all the attention.
Day 3 Sunday, Sept. 29
MOVING DAY!!
OK, could have slept til noon, but THIS IS DISNEY! Mom and I were up around 8:30 and walked over to the food court for milk and coffee. Too bad we werent planning to hang out here for the day cool pool! Had cereal and croissants in the room as we re-organized the bags. I packed a bag with swim clothes in case our room wasnt ready (which of course it wasnt). We loaded up, once again, and started to drive out of AS but wait theres the Toy Story buildings. Couldnt resist the photo ops there. Allyson wanted to go into someones room there she thought they were all really Andys room. Lee stayed in the van to keep it cool. He was still fuming that someone scratched our 2 month old new Villager Estate. I still dont think hes over that.
We get to the Beach Club and check-in around 11:45 and I talk Lee into valet parking, making sure to tell them we were DVC since its free to DVC members. OK, were not, but were renting points and heard that you get the same privileges. And if they charged us, so be it. Its worth the peace of mind that someones excited 10 year old isnt going to wildly swing open their car door and put another ding in the Morenomobile. Check in was pretty smooth, maybe 10 minutes at the most. Were given our key cards and told to call back to check if the room was ready. So we headed to Storm Along Bay to check out the pool. The kids and Lee had a good time swimming and playing in the pool. No crowds to speak of but they were still handing out wristbands at the towel area. Got our first taste of sticker shock when I got kids meals, a salad and a sandwich wrap for lunch at Hurricane Hannahs. I usually order one kids meal for the two girls, but geesh, that pitiful hamburger wouldnt have filled the tummy of a church mouse! OK, I exaggerate a bit, but it was pretty small for the $6 they were charging. (Yeah, yeah, yeah, you do get a pail and shovel with it, but that wouldnt have been more than 50 cent cost.) Mom and I went exploring for a while to pass the time. We called a few times and nope, no room yet. It was getting later and we had 5pm PSs for Hoop-De-Doo. I was concerned that we wouldnt be able to all shower and freshen up before dinner. My brother and sister in-law (who at the last minute decided to drive down from Pennsylvania to vacation with us) had checked into Beach Club on Saturday. I called them and asked if we could use their room to get changed. This was around 3pm. They said sure. So I went out to the pool to round everyone up and we headed for their room, but alas, I called one more time at 3:30 and was told our room was ready!! So we rushed to our villa - #307 and quickly inspected our room (WOWW NICE DIGS) and everyone showered in record time so we could leave for Pioneer Hall by 4:20. Really loving valet parking called downstairs to have the car pulled up and it was ready by the time we walked there!
Nice short drive to Pioneer Hall. Just a note here The buses that take you from the entrance of Fort Wilderness to Pioneer Hall dont say Pioneer Hall. Theyre color coded depending on which section of the campsites youre going to and all colors (I believe) make a stop at Pioneer Hall. Just ask a bus driver when one pulls up to the stop. Same with the bus going back any color bus will take you to the entrance.
Not a full house at Hoop De Doo. No one was seated on the upper level, but they still put on a show as though it was standing room only! Just as I thought, my kids LOVED the show. Theyre at that age when they love telling corny jokes and Six Bits was just the most hilarious character to them. OK after several sips of Sangria, he was the most hilarious person to me, too!! I laughed so hard, I cried. Could be just a release of post-driving tension. Nah it was the Sangria.
After the show, we headed back to the room. We get the kids settled and leave them with mom while Lee and I go to Publix for groceries. We had loosely planned a few meals and quickly went through the aisles and found exactly what we needed. Before leaving home, I had allocated an amount of travelers checks, Disney Dollars and real cash into envelopes for each day, for HDDR, for Princess B-fast, and for one child's 4-day pass that I had not purchased yet. My Grocery envelope had $80. Groceries came out to $80 and some change. Am I a great planner or what??
When we returned to the room, the kids were asleep. Since we had been on the run all day since we checked in, this was the first opportunity I had to settle in our things. We caught the last half of The Practice (season opener). I dont think I fell into bed until 11pm. I had requested a wake-up call for 6:30am. Just like being at home.
