More time or more space?

We bought DVC for the one bedroom so that we could have more room. *A studio feels to us too much like a standard hotel room. *If we are short on points, a studio is better than not going to Disney but I try to plan so that we get one bedrooms.

I don't think that I would be happy for all of that time in the same studio. I would be happier mixing it up with at least one move.

For just two people a studio would be fine. In January DW and I spent a week in a studio at BWV and I never felt cramped. With two there will be no need to pull out the sofa bed (I would hope) which keeps the room feeling larger. As long as you don't feel you need the full kitchen I say take the exta time as the luxury instead of the space. You can go a little slower or try thing you haven't done before like tour or minigolf or extended touring of other resorts. Head out to Universal or Sea World or further afield.

Take more time to enjoy yourselves away from the stress of work and normal life. To me that's a luxury.

:rotfl2:

With just the two of you, I would do the studio. If we had the kids, I would go bigger.

DW and I just finished a studio at BWV last month and for the two of us, it was just fine!

Two people, a studio for more nights! No doubt about it. DH and I often spend our time in the same room.

You mentioned your DH goes to bed before you do. If that is important for him to get more sleep and you to stay up, perhaps a 1BR would be better.

Two people, a one bedroom for sure. OKW might be the only place to consider a studio with the two queen beds. But I wouldn't be happy for that much time in a studio.

I think we will try for 3 nights at BLT in a studio and then a week at BCV in a one bedroom. This way we can do the MK area for a few days and then over to BCV for the F&W festival. We have always wanted to stay a little longer than our usual 7 days and this will be a nice extra. When I started looking at the BCV portion and realized that a week in the one BR was 211 pts and the studio was 107 pts I got excited thinking about all that extra time. But in the end I think we would like some time in the one bedroom just to feel more like home and enjoy the tub and wash clothes. Thanks for all of the input!

We love Disney, but that's too long in a studio IMHO. The extra space in an OKW 1-bedroom is glorious! Perhaps do a split stay?

I guess we're starting to see why both studios and 1 bedrooms are both so popular. Looks like a strong following for each.

Although we go several times a year, time usually wins out over space! If we have the time, we would rather be there longer.

I would do 6/7 nts in a studio with weekend nts in it then the rest in a 1 bedroom. Even if you need to drop a nt or to make sure the weekend is in a studio. And yes I would do 2 resorts switching on a Sun do to crowds on weekends and use that as a pool day.:goodvibes

have fun

I think you came up with a good plan - to do a split stay. But like another poster mentioned, I would start in the studio and then switch up to the 1 bedroom. That way you can get your laundry done too.

Split stay.

I love splits, for reasons of saving points. 6-8 nights studio last 4 nights 1 bedroom. I also pick 2 diff resorts to do parks near where we are staying and enjoy on site rest and stuff. like SSR (for DTD and pool, visiting AK) and then BC (Epcot, MK, HS).

I like the idea of the split stay and make it 10 days! If you were even consdering a studio for 13 days, you would be fine for 4 days studio/6 days 1 BR or even 5/5. Also, when you get there, you probably spend more time in the parks and then by day 5 will be ready to relax more. Definitely start in the studio, then move up to the 1 Br.

Exactly what I was thinking! ;)

I would be able to 13 nights in a studio but we would make it two trips, a 6 and a 7 night stay. I'm not sure I could do 13 nights in either a studio or a one bedroom! We are an eight hour drive away so two trips in a year probably isn't as bad as it is for people who travel much farther.

I vote for more time vs. bigger accomodations. A studio wouldn't be my ideal choice for a two week trip but if it meant being able to stay longer I would give up the extra room.

For 2 people I'd pick 13 nights in the studio. I have always stayed in studios with 2 adults and one small child. It's like a regular hotel room- plus the convenience of the kitchen area. I think it's fine and if you have the time, I love a long trip.

I like having a kitchen, washer/dryer, and living space even for a week so I'd go with the one bedroom. :thumbsup2

For us it would depend on how much time we were planning to spend in the room. We like the 1 brm because we go to the parks early, come back to the room and go back to the parks again at night. We have friends who go nonstop at the parks and the studio is just fine for them. I do agree with the split stay though
