I honestly would love to buy into DVC, but it would require too many points for us! Are they really strict about the number of people in a room? We have a family of 5. I am not trying to cheat the system, but just curious. How would they even know if we are AP holders? It is the age old saga of 4 per room for us.....very frustrating.

A 1 bedroom at AKV and BLT will hold 5, and they will let you book 5 in the other DVC 1 bedrooms as well.

Occupancy discussions are limited to this thread: DVC Occupancy where you may continue the discussion if you wish.

Occupancy for studios is 4 plus a child under 3 in a Pack N Play.

DVC is currently allowing 5 of any age in a one bedroom unit, and AKV non-value class units, as well as BLT units have sleeping accommodations for 5 in the one bedroom (king bed, queen sleep sofa, and an additional sleeper chair.) For other DVCs you'll need to provide a sleeping bag or air mattress.

DVC Membership, or any timeshare for that matter, doesn't fit neatly into everyones budget, family size and travel habits. If you can not comfortably live within the rules agreements, a timeshare may not be the best option for you.

As Diane said, there are 1-bedroom villas that 'officially' sleep 5 in AKV and BLT. Member services has been allowing 5 in the 1 bedrooms at other DVC resorts, even though the offering documents state that occupancy is 4.

Outside of that exception, they are quite strict about occupancy. Persons left off the reservation will not be able to access EMH, or board the DME bus. Depending on the resort, that person may also have problems at the pool, as BCV requires a resort ID for all guests entering the pool area, and other resorts do random ID checks.
