There were more severe storms in our area last night. We were pretty lucky - the worst of it stayed west and south of us. We did get one heck of a lightening show though.
This is what the sky looked like when I first set the tripod up (in the front seat of the car -with me straddling it
)
It wasn't 30 seconds later and the sky looked like this...
I was so excited - had never caught lightening like that and we were in the perfect location to get more. Then..
we were told to move. Lightening had struck a house and "the boss" wanted "his photographer"
to go to the house and get shots of the fire dept in action. So off we went - me grumbling the entire way.
After I got some shots there - we moved back to where we had been originally. By then things were quieting down and the Skywarn net was being closed. We stuck around for a little while longer and I managed to get a few more shots. Not nearly as dramatic - it was a bummer.
My wide angle lens should be here tomorrow. We have a slight chance of activation tomorrow afternoon and a greater one on Saturday night. I can't wait to try out that wide angle lens for lightening shots!
