Carnival Cruise Lines confirms that its ship “Celebration” lost the use of one of its two engines Tuesday when a propeller struck the sea floor as the vessel was trying to dock in Nassau. The ship canceled its port stop there and returned to its homeport of Jacksonville this morning. More than 50 gallons of oil spilled from the ship as a result of the accident, but officials said the oil had fully dissipated. Passengers on the cruise will receive a $50 onboard credit and a 25 percent discount toward any future three- to five-day cruise valid through Dec. 13, 2007. Meanwhile, because the problem will slightly affect the ship’s sailing speed, passengers on the “Celebration” cruise departing today will receive a $100 onboard credit and a 20 percent discount off any future three- to seven-day cruise valid through Dec. 13, 2007 (or, they may cancel and receive a full refund or future cruise credit).

OH BOY! :rolleyes1

That's a shame. I'm sure there are a lot of disappointed people on that cruise. I guess we can plan our fool heads off over our vacations but some things are just out of our control!
