More pictures and letters from Harry Potter....

My daughter has been sending letters to the different actors since last year (one each). So far she has received a picture and letter from:

Daniel Ratcliffe (Harry Potter)
Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley)
Allen Rickman (Professor Snape)
Robby Coltrane (Hagrid)
Emma Watson (Hermione)

and she received one yesterday from Matthew Lewis (Nevillel).

In Matthew's letter, a question about his toad (she called it a frog and was corrected) was answered plus he said that he would pass on her message to Daniel. Whether or not Matthew actually read her letter, someone did and took the time to respond in kind instead of sending a generic response. The signature was also written in pen instead and actually looks like he might of signed it.

She is thrilled!!!!!

How cute, good for her. Maybe it really was his personal response - some stars still may do personal responses! Either way, doesn't matter, it's still pretty cool.

Many actors actually answer their own fanmail. I'd say she got the real thing!

Tom Clancy wrote me (shortly after Red Storm Rising was published) back when I was in High School. It was typewritten with his John Hancock at the bottom on the back of the college-ruled paper on which I had written my letter to him. I'm pretty sure he was publishing with the Naval Institute Press in Annapolis back then, and hadn't yet made it big.

I look back on that as a pretty darn cool thing. Hope your daughter keeps them, especially if they wrote something of interest and intelligence.
