More Parking Insanity...

Differ all you want, but....I own at BWV and have been staying there at least twice a year since '03, sometimes more often than that. Yes, people go to JR's for more than a few hours. But Atlantic Dance Club??? Seriously?? Very few people are heading in there. In fact, many complain about it and want it made into something better...maybe an Adventurer's Club type venue. And Big River??? Again, seriously?? That's just not the kind of place you see people sitting around at for hours. You may get folks sitting around ESPN, watching a game, but it's not going to all that many people.
People heading over to the Swan should be parking at the Swan. But yeah, they charge you to park there, so of course you are going to park at BW.

In all reality, while some seem to think that the Boardwalk is a mini-DTD, it truly isn't. If Disney intended that to be the case, they would make it easier to get to. I mean, in all reality....do you think that Disney intends it to be a mini-DTD just for those driving??? Or paying to use cabs??? It is difficult to get to and from BW...especially late at night
I agree because no matter what the Boardwalk is always going to be considered a WDW Resort and it's security will be treated like one. I also see why some people consider it a mini version of Downtown Disney based on the things they offer which other WDW Resorts don't have, however that's no excuse for others to say it's a destination and should be treated like one.

Ahhh, but you didn't seem to feel that way when people were parking at the CR and walking over to MK. You were very upset about that. It should be the exact same thing. But, that's the issue, isn't it. Disney 'says' one thing, but CMs (Disney or contracted) says something else.
Believe me I feel the exact same way because there has been the odd time when we drove around the main self parking lot a few times looking for a spot when they were very busy.

The only difference I see is this. If the people who visit the Boardwalk park in either one of their distant self parking lots and go to Epcot or Hollywood Studios it won't effect us since we never park in them and why would we. So it's just like those who Valet Park and visit the parks. Plus the Contemporary doesn't have any distant self parking lots meant for those just going there to eat and look around.

well, I wouldn't go to the brewery for hours, but for one or two specialty beers, and maybe appetizers.

my point was that people can "bar hop" there, like they used to at pleasure island. and if they dine there, there is a good chance they may go to a club after, extending their stay past the 3 hours allote for an ADR.

while we have stayed at dolphin, BWV and BCV,and enjoyed the boardwalk, we have also made it an evening destination. so I assume others do, also.. I wouldn't think all those people at Jelly rolls were staying at the Boardwalk Inn or Villas.

we are considerate. we park in the outer lot. but, park at the swan if we do karaokee? I really am not going to go have chicken wings and nachos at ESPN, watch a little sports, then walk back to the further lot to our car, move it over to the swan lot, go sing a few songs, then go back out to the car, move it BACK to the further lot at BW, and walk back to Jellyrolls. that is just silly.
when there are a few venues within walking distance, people will hit a couple, and walk from one to the other.

and if I pay $10 to get into Jelly rolls, I am not going to rush out in time to catch the boat to DHS. esp. when I have my own car, and am staying just few blocks away (pop, carribean beach, pofq, etc.) and we have a few times stayed longer than 3 hours,(without dinner adrs) so I guess it was a destination for us.

perhaps these venues could give you some kind of stamp? to show that you were actually spending money there, and not using the lot to go to epcot. or avoid a parking fee (which we wouldn't have anyway, staying onsite)

I admit I have never been to Atlantic dance hall . something like adventurer's club? that would be fantastic!!!

If that happened though, you can count on a lot more people coming to the boardwalk just for nightlife, or dinner and nightlife.
and it's my opinion that those who come to the boardwlk to enjoy the restaurants, entertainers, clubs, any combination of the 3 , should have a place to park... be it farther away from the parking for resort guests. and should not be lumped in with the cheaters going to epcot., and trying to avoid the epcot lot, for whatever reason.

charge a fee and get remimbursed at the venue? or reimbursed for half? or get a stamp and pay as you leave.. if you have a stamp. you don't pay.. or pay half?
