Good luck dining. My kids were 1, 2 and 4 when we went last year and a year older when we go this August. twice in one year I can't believe it. When it comes to meals its great to be in Disney because we are all in the same boat (when it comes to kids) so when they act up Its not that bad.
Earlier the better and throw in a breakfast here and there. Wolfgang Pucks Express was excellent it was like a table service and you only need a counterservice.

We're going with a 4, 3, 2, and 1 year old in September. We have ADR's for Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Donald's, Biergarten, 50's Prime Time Cafe, Tony's, and Le Cellier (while the grand parents are babysitting.) We have also enjoyed Coral Reef in the past but our 5 month old hated that it was so dark and loud. Same with whatever the Mexican restaurant in the pyramid is called. Our strategy is to do as many buffets and character experiences as possible to please the kids with a little sprinkling of what we would really like! Have fun!

A word of warning about character dining with boys so young. We went in 2005 when my son was almost 5 and he was a bit put off by the characters. DH and I would have been fine without a character meal but we thought DS would love it. If I had known he'd be intimidated then tepid I would have spent the money on a nicer TS restaurant and skipped the character meal altogether. (We did Chef Mickey's btw.) Of course some adults love the character meals too so that may factor in your decision. If you don't know how the boys will feel about Characters though, think twice before you make a whole bunch of ADR's. Best of luck to you.

If you want more off-beat character interaction, there's breakfast and lunch at Hollywood & Vine (MGM) which has JoJo's circus and Little Einsteins. I haven't eaten there, but we've got lunch booked during our trip. We also considered Whispering Canyon Cafe and Ohana's, but in the end there were more choices than credits. Good luck getting ADRs!
