Wow..Cnn is just picking up on this story. You have to do a search but I think this appeared in a florida paper last week.
Someone had the link up before.

Actually this is a new one. Last week was the Enchantment of the Seas sailing from Ft Lauderdale. This story is about the Mariner of the Seas sailing from Port Canaveral. The Mariner just returned into port this morning with over 250 sick passengers. Both cases were said to have been brought on board by passengers that had it prior to boarding the ships.

You would be amazed how many people do not wash their hands after using the bathroom...I see it all the time, even on DCL. After washing I use a paper towel to open the door with or use my shoulder to push the door open. It amazes me that people can use the toilet and not wash afterward.

It just read the posted article but I cannot see how they could trace it back to just one passenger....did they do a complete survey of everyone onboard and that one person was the only one who had symptons?? Just curious!!

OK, now this is scary

The Mariner sails out of Canaveral along with the DISNEY ships. If any of the workers are infected think it would spread between cruise lines?

Just worrying, I sail this Thursday on the Wonder don't need to be throwing up for 3 days, I can stay home and do that for free - LOL

We're avid hand washers and got frustrated with DCL at dinner. Before we sat, we'd wash our hands. However, in an acknowledged attempt at being "fun", our servers always wanted to high-five the kids. Then they put "used" crayons on the table. That's fine in the kid's clubs, but not while eating food. We ended up bringing our own small pack of crayons and washing hands again right before the food was served.

I'm all for having fun, but not at the expense of staying healthy!

I got Norwalk BEFORE I sailed. Went to the doctor wanting to die and she confirmed it. It lasted 5 days. fever, chills, nausea (that horrible wanting to throw up but can't). I almost cancelled the trip but three days before I sailed, I was fine. I have never been so sick. And if I had caught it on the boat...ugh.

Talked to a friend in PC today who said the "fun bus" had SEPARATE busses reserved, one for DCL and one for Carnival. The crews had to show their ship ID before riding to avoid contact with the crew of other ships. Sounds like the cruise lines are taking this thing seriously.

Great idea! I think with as many children that there are on DCL, that is a FANTASTIC idea!! I would support that 100%. Of course, I am the crazy mom, that carries hand sanitizer everywhere anyway...... My family is used to it!

When the kids enter the lab/club the CMs squirt liquid hand soap in their hands and send them to the sink to wash up.
