More non-campers touting the praises of making fake FW reservations

Maybe the powers could reserve one tent site for all non-campers. Disney could place a tent on it as representative of everyone who will not be using the site. That would open the rest of the unused sites for real tenters. :wizard:

:scratchin There's an idea! I like it.

Here's what I put on that thread. Is it diplomatic enough?:lmao:

I think us campers should contact management and ask that the same rules that apply at other campgrounds should also apply at Fort Wilderness, and that is that you must have a unit of some type, whether tent, camper or otherwise on the site to keep the reservation. This may stop some of the inconsiderate non-campers from reserving "throw-away" campsites. I'm sure once Disney realizes that these empty sites are not bringing in more people to spend more money in the parks etc, they will be happy to change to a more fair way of doing this. I know when you reserve and check in, you tell them what kind of unit you have. Does this mean you lied to get in? Great thing to teach your kids, it's OK to lie and cheat as long as it's good for you. ...ahh, but you don't feel bad...says it all. You obviously don't have the "Disney Magic."

Although I agree that these phantom reservations are wrong, I have a problem with requiring that "you must have a unit of some type, whether tent, camper or otherwise on the site to keep the reservation." Its not a bad idea just that some of us use our motorhomes for transportation. For example. we have a van camper. Sometimes we unhook and drive around leaving our site empty. If Disney followed your concept then every night we might have our reservation revoked and our site occupied by someone else. Not a fun prospect after a long day in the parks.

I googled "Fort Wilderness Manager" and Doug Lord came up. Any idea how to get hold of him? Email address? All I can find is the FW physical address:

4510 North Fort Wilderness Trail
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

...but I assume that you don't leave your site totally empty. You probably leave behind chairs, grill, etc. The site isn't sitting there pristine waiting for its next occupant. WDW ought to be able to come up with some process to ensure people are using the spot they reserved.

I'm surprised how many people are willing to jump through hoops, go to the Fort to check in, and spend $45-65/nt for a tent site just so they can use EMH. I don't get it, but there are lots of things people do that I don't get. In any case, considering that people are willing to do that, I'm surprised Disney hasn't decided to sell EMH access to off-site guests. Heck, if someone will pay for it, why not sell it? My two dogs poop a lot. The poop is worthless to me. But if someone would pay me a dime a dump, I'd be out there with my shovel and a bunch of baggies.

The way people do it now, Disney is still getting money BUT they are ticking off a large group of customers and also losing customers that cannot get a site. They could offer a limited number of EMH access passes (keep it somewhat exclusive), and make some money while not alienating FW guests in the process.

Jim, talk to Bobby.

Posting on the offending thread is akin to peeing against the wind. It's useless. Obviously WDW makes $$$ when someone books a site and pays for a site. It makes FtW profitable in managements' eyes. They could care less if the site is being used, or not. If it's not being used, then neither are the water, sewer, electricity, or comfort stations. So again, why would Disney care?

I'm not saying I agree with what people are doing, and I actually think it's kind of stupid to do this just to get a few extra hours in the park - and....pay $65.00/nite to avoid a $14.00 parking fee?? That is just too stupid even for this moran to comprehend.

What I think would be fun would be if Disney came up with the "Kim Possible Secret EMH Park of the Day" scheme. Every morning beginning at 5am, broadcast only on the resort CaTV channel which park had EMH for that day. Then switch it around on a daily basis so even the guests who actually stay at the resorts don't know which park will have EMH until 5am that morning. Disney wouldn't have to be confrontational at all because anyone who didn't stay on site would not have access to that info.

I should be in management! :rotfl2:

i think it is worthwhile to post on the other thread your opinion that it is wrong....there are decent folk who will recognize it and decide it's not a good idea. (like the detailing thread - I'm a recent offender and truthfully it didn't occur to me until reading the thread that someone might be annoyed by it, so we won't do that again...LOL)

I'm pretty sure that these are the same people ruining,,uhh,, I mean, RUNNING our country,,or at least it's their relatives.

Let off site guests into EMH:scared1:
EMH used to be great but now that Disney has 50,000 people in Disney resorts (seems that way) and with the limited attractions open durring EMH it's not worth the hastle and the crowds anymore.
They should open the entire park not half of it.
I have noticed when we are leaving as the park closes to the public there are people lined as far as you can see heading in for EMH.

I will never do EMH ever again. We did it a few times during our last stay. IMO it seems to me that the lines were longer during EMH and the lack of food options or no food is not worth it to me to stay up until 4am to ride the same ride i can ride all day.

Love that!! :rotfl2:

Well then they'd have to change the name, because it would no longer be "extra" or "magic" :scared:

I feel that posting anything in the offending thread is a waste of time and energy. Simply adding fuel to the fire, IMO.

In the past, I can recall reading certain tips being given out right here on the Camping Forum that in my opinion should never have been written.

To be honest, I think the Best Kept Secret never was DVC, even though we are Members, it was FW and because of so much touting of how great FW is by those on this board and elsewhere, the resulting circumstances which we are now witnessing were inevitable.

While I get the concept here.......now you would annoy thousands of others who make some kind of an attempt to plan their vacation and select parks based on EMH. Then we'll have to deal with a whole other thread on that subject.

For what it's worth, I've added my opinion. I would say 2 cents, but I'm sure it's not worth even that much anymore in this economy. :sad2:

Watch out...Disney's solution to this will be the same as their solution to Free dining - No EMH or free parking for guests of Fort Wilderness! Then no resort transportation for campers either!

As an aside....During our last trip we had 2 sites, 1 for us and 1 for my DW's brother and family. They checked out a few days before us. A couple days later I got a phone call from the front desk asking why we had left because we weren't on our site! Apparently they had the sites reversed in their system and it was easy to clear up but....Does FW routinely call every guest that is not occupying their site? That seems like a good idea, although they may have called me special because of the $800 balance I had on my room key. :rolleyes1

Also, I liked Rog's thought that damage to an unoccupied site would be the responsibility of the person renting that site at the time.

Well, they got my goat!! Must be that time of year.

find pirate jeff. he may have some information on this guy.
