Our day started very early. I was up at 5 am figuring that my husband, Luis, and I should leave by 7:00 latest if we wanted to get there at a reasonable hour for lunch... this was figuring on a 4 ½ hour drive. I thought we were doing pretty well when we walked out the door at just about 6:45. As we got to the end of the street, I saw a beautiful sunrise and almost asked for my camera, when I realized I had left it at home
So we turned around and went back for it. At 6:50 we were ready to try it again.
This is the beautiful sunrise we saw. I am so glad we saw this or I would seriously have made it all the way to Michigan before I remembered my camera.
Luis and I made pretty good time up to Battle Creek, Michigan. It took us less than two hours to cross state borders and 260 miles & 3 ½ hours later, we pulled into the parking lot at the mall.
Here we have John, Dan & Luis chatting away. They were probably listening intently to Kitty talking about her four trips per year that she takes
(j/k)
Kitty and iluvdisney (Mary) had both brought albums from past trips along to share and here we have Brisully (Brian), nativetxn (Katholyn), Mary, Kitty & Juli all looking at her pictures.
A long shot of the group as they share stories from previous trips.
Here we have Kitty's DH, Mike, looking on as Kath agrees with Kitty that her lime green ribbon is very noticeable and that John must have been blind not to see it.
Dan must know us all too well as he came out prepared for the pictures to be taken. I wonder if he would have felt silly had none of us been there to take this.
And because John wasn't able to spot that very bright lime green ribbon of Kitty's, he was forced to wear this nametag all afternoon. Rather fitting don't you think?
Mike, Kath & Kitty couldn't help but look at John and snicker to themselves thinking of that nametag on his back. In Kitty's case, she couldn't help but laugh out loud at him
see John, this is what you get for pushing me to post pics so quickly
These are Kitty's two handsome young men, Michael and Danny.
Group shot (Luis was taking the pic and Michael & Danny opted out of it).
Front row: John, Katholyn, Kitty, myself, Mary & Juli
Second row: Dan, Mike & Brian
Luis looks like he is up to no good in this picture. I don't think I want to know what he was thinking. He does have nice eyes, though, doesn't he?
Dan fiddles with his camera (boy was that a shocker for us to see
) while Mary & Brian look on.
Another long shot of everyone at the table chatting away.
Juli & Brian being... well, Juli and Brian
And Juli was so kind as to clean up after all of us messy eaters
Isn't she such the dear?
A few left starting in the late afternoon while the majority of us hung around until just after 7 pm. Luis and I stopped for gas before heading on the road home. This LFP (I'll let John explain that one to you all) hit traffic so it took 3 hours 35 minutes to get home. It was a very tiresome day with all that driving, but truthfully it was worth every minute we spent in the car!
I had been on these boards for about 3 ½ years before I made it to my first meet this past April. If you haven't been to a meet before, I do recommend it... even if you have to drive several hours to get there! They are tons of fun and I look forward to the next one I get to go to!
